AAC, who gives a Hoot league?how are there 3 teams in the AAC all nicknamed Owls? Are there any others in the NCAA or do they have the monopoly?
EDIT - I guess there are 3 A10 teams called the Rams in the A10, so...
You heard that wrong, he meant 3 games instead of 31…I have been assured we will have 3 games, not finalized as to how it will happen. Hope my source is correct.
Saw this.
"Event has five team commitments, meaning a mix of games needed." Yep we're all wondering how that mix will be sorted out.
and how would that technically stay within the bounds of the MTE structure, and not be considered an entirely differently scheduled game altogether? (which wouldn't be allowed bc teams are already at their non-MTE limit.)No idea what Rocco is getting at with "a mix of games."
The MTE rules definite pretty tightly how these things can be set up, and unless there's something creative that I've overlooked, a 5-team MTE playing 3 games each simply doesn't work.
Maybe you can drop it to 2 games each and then four of the five teams match up for third games that aren't technically part of the MTE and the fifth team is left hanging for a game. Even that would be messy because you can't do all of that in just 3 days I don't think, so then you're either adding another day onto the event (either starting on Sunday or playing on Thanksgiving) or finding schedule gaps and just playing those extra games completely separately.

It absolutely would be an entirely different game., but it's permitted. Right now we're using the 28+3-game MTE limit. This would just be using the 29+2-game MTE limit. Either way you get 31.and how would that technically stay within the bounds of the MTE structure, and not be considered an entirely differently scheduled game altogether? Clown show.
Correct, it doesn't work. However....1. MTE rules are made by the NCAA and they continually don't adhere to any more rules. 2. Have u heard about my boys at Florida Southwestern State College!!
not sure how you could justify the "four of the five teams match up for third games that aren't technically part of the MTE" as not being part of the MTE ... especially if you are holding it at the same E.Maybe you can drop it to 2 games each and then four of the five teams match up for third games that aren't technically part of the MTE and the fifth team is left hanging for a game.
Seems pretty straightforward to me. Just say these are neutral site regular games and draw up new contracts for the 2-game MTE and for the separate games. Certainly meets the letter of the law in my eyes.not sure how you could justify the "four of the five teams match up for third games that aren't technically part of the MTE" as not being part of the MTE ... especially if you are holding it at the same E.
It’s a sad joke. The thread is a nothing burger.4th grade stuff.Feel free to talk about the other 28 games if you like. Or don't follow the thread.
Yes, you’ve routinely made your superiority over the rest of us clear with your repeated snide comments. It’s a sad joke. The thread is a nothing burger.4th grade stuff.

Just a quick glance over a few of their top teams non-conference highlights. I didnt dig too deep into potential MTE matchups unless it was already there on the schedule:I’m curious (but too lazy) to look at the Mountain West teams non con schedule. That league is our peer, although obviously a step above A10 the past few years. Do those teams also have sad out of conference schedules? Or have they been able to schedule well this year? Would tell us if our hunch that Power 5 schools are avoiding the top mid major programs is a real thing or just an A10 scheduling problem
I for one love this thread. It is the perfect encapsulation of UR athletic leadership being asleep at the wheel. We sat on our asses with our OOC and got left out of a quality MTE. So we hopped on this Gulf Coast sh*t show at the 11th hour to save face and appeal to the part of the fanbase that doesn't play close attention to the schedule, so they could say "hey look at this great MTE experience we have" and the gullible old ladies on social media would praise them.1,260 posts about 3 non existent games. What about the other 28 games?Talk about having idle time chasing windmills…Sad.

So that’s who plays the 5th team on day 3…With a release by Howard a few minutes ago, North Texas now has the distinction of being the only D-I team to have not released their official schedule yet, though they have 27 games up on their website and already have a confirmed MTE with the ESPN NIT Season Tip-Off.
Great work 8legs! Appreciate it. Seems much strongerJust a quick glance over a few of their top teams non-conference highlights. I didnt dig too deep into potential MTE matchups unless it was already there on the schedule:
UNLV- Memphis, Mississippi State (MTE), Butler OR Northwestern (MTE), Creighton, Dayton
-
Colorado State- Ole Miss, Washington (MTE), TCU OR Santa Clara (MTE), Colorado, VCU
-
Utah State- Iowa (MTE), Bonnies, St Marys, South Florida
-
SDSU- Gonzaga, Cal, Texas A&M + Oregon + Creighton (all 3 MTE)
-
New Mexico- UCLA, St Johns, Arizona State (MTE), Saint Marys OR USC (MTE), VCU
-
Nevada- Washington, Vanderbilt (MTE), Seton Hall OR VCU (MTE), Washington State
-
Boise State- Clemson, San Francisco, Washington State, St Marys, possible second round matchup in their MTE with Duqesne and possible third round with Boston College. They seem to be the only ones that didn't end up in an upper tier MTE.
Pretty damn strong overall.
So that’s who plays the 5th team on day 3…
