Their coach is legit. On track for a third straight NCAA appearance. He should get some looks somewhere bigger finally, you would think.

Watched last 30 secs of vcu game on espn+. They got some home cooking too. Nelson was given 3 shots on a very questionable foul w 7 secs left down 6. I'd have to see replay again but looked like he didn't get fouled just sold it well. But if he did get fouled it wasn't going up for a shot only dribbling thru. Regardless dumb play by norfolk to give the refs a chance tho u still want to D up in those situations. Nelson made all 3, norfolk state then git fouled , missed 1 and 1 (yes still in 1 & 1 that late), and vcu got a solid look to tie it up. Thought Jones NSU coach maybe should have fouled there but it worked out.

Loyola needs a coach. When the successful guy left a few years ago they went with a young assistant who checked all the wrong boxes. I stupid choice from a basketball perspective, but they felt really good about the insider who was chosen for all the wrong reasons. They have been free falling ever since.

Watched the end of VCU’s loss to Memphis. My main takeaway was Zeb Jackson is awful
Saw him miss two bunnies that normally he'd make 80-90% on, but he made nice moves to get to rim. Think more unlucky than bad play.
Maybe unlucky on the layups, but his shooting form in general looked way off to me
vcu now threatening to sue the ncaa because they didn’t let Bamisile play this year. Absurd. Wasting either state or donor money to argue that a kid who transfers every five minutes deserves to play immediately because of his mental health issues and his father’s health? And probably any other random reasons they can think of between now and next week.

Not opponents, but a couple of really good mid major clashes today. Grand Canyon went in and won at Liberty. Colorado State hosting Saint Mary's. Stephen's for CSU point guard is an absolute stud.
And wow, watching CSU / St. MARYS these teams play with a different speed and physicality. Niko Medved can coach.
There are a lot of great young coaches out there….Athletic Directors with ambition and vision would be wise to take notice…and action.
