Sorry for the delay, but apparently you hit a certain age when you can't tolerate alcohol like you once did....

Things not going so well today..

South Florida 75, UNI 65
Charlotte 54, Mason 49
Abilene Christian 59, Fordham 45

Hey, Charlotte and Wichita got wins...at the expense of other opponents of ours. And of course the losers in those games were A-10 programs, so that's a bigger impact. :(

I know it's still early and the computer rankings are allegedly sorting themselves out, but I swear to God someone who designed the NET must be a vcu grad. Explain to me how they are 54, despite losing AT HOME to the team that is 340, and having three wins against teams ranked between 130-175? It's nonsensical. But every single year this happens with them. They always magically appear in the top 75 regardless of their results.

Nope, CBS has it updated right now for this year. I know it's their attempt to replicate it, but I assume it's pretty much on par.

Nope nope. :)

Those are last year's numbers. They can't replicate it because the formula isn't known at all. St. Mary's at 1–3 against D-I competition couldn't possibly be #11 this season, regardless of who they've played.

Here's the official NCAA list from the end of last season...matches CBS exactly.

Ok, I feel better then. A little confusing since they say it was updated yesterday and show all of this year's records, though.

Yes, a lot of the ranking sites are very confusing looking right now as they wait for the NET release. Bracketologists.com is similar. They have a note that the NETs are still from last year, but only on the main page. And they say other rankings are from this year, but even that's not necessarily true as others like Sagarin and KPI aren't out yet either.

If you'd really like to feel better, try Torvik with the trick of a Nov 2 start date to remove the preseason component. VCU is at 181 there, Spiders at 82.

While I am enjoying their misfortune as much as anyone, watch this be the one year we beat them and have it be meaningless in March. Or even worse, lose and have it considered to be a "bad loss."

Also, let’s go Spiders! Round 1 of the FCS Playoffs today!

Of course one starter is out with injury (Bairstow), but VCU looked like trash against Boise State. Much like UR last season, they have significant decision-making issues in the backcourt. The frontcourt looked raw and unpolished.

Max Shulga can score, he shoots it every time he touches it. Top 175-200 team right now.

VCU is big and athletic, but has bad turnover problems. I think Nelson is the only one on the roster under 6’5

Nelson has 11 turnovers and only 8 assists so far.
I agree his assists & turnovers are similar or worse than last year. Main improvement is 3 point %.

Although they think if we had Nelson instead of King we would have beat BC.

U guys do this every year w vcu and every year u r wrong. Hope they lose every game but they’ll be pretty good once Bairstow returns and I expect right in mix at top of A10.

If someone gave free money to bet on who finishes higher in A10, us or VCU, 95% r still taking vcu.
