Early Signing Day,December 4, 2024-December 6, 2024

Huesman's remark was in a question he was answering about his relationship with Mike London the week before the W&M game...I may be mistaken from memory, but I believe he mentioned London being more of a players coach, before describing himself as not so much...agree it was an unfortunate comment

Huesman also repeated numerous times over the course of the entire season that he loved this team...that the group of guys was great to be around...that it was fun to go to practices...etc. etc.

it's confusing!

Go Spiders!
London has been criticized for not having disaplined teams at W&M the last few years. They were close to the top of the league for penalty years the last couple of seasons. Not being as much if a players coach could have been a way of separating himself from a negative.

You are right he probably wishes he had the part of that answer about himself back.
Think he was trying to compliment London and be a little humble at the same time and as I remember he tried to clean it up a little during the same interview.

The NCAA has ruined College sports. Players have the control now over coaches. A Richmond degree has little or no attraction to keep our football recruits satisfied anymore! My support is deteriorating by the hour as we watch our team’s satisfactions of playing for Richmond gone.🕸️🕷️🏈?

Not sure the UR athletic admin including coaching staff had any idea of the roster exit of key players which was precipitated by the move to the Patriot League.Everyone was concerned about the effect the move would have on the 2025 recruiting class which was ironically minimally affected.

I beg to differ on the reasons for leaving. If we had been in the CAA next year, all of these players would still have left. The lure of moving up is the basis for these portal decisions. I hate to say this but if each of these players preformed the way that they think how good they are, we would be still playing. Best of luck to them all but most times you are better off being a big fish in a little pond! Bring it on class of 2025 and returning underclassman🏈🕷️🕸️

I beg to differ 100%

32 please share your thoughts on why you think we are losing all of our best players then. And don’t use the Patriot league as the sole reason please!

This is my last post. DTSpider, I attended Richmond for 4 years, played baseball during those years successfully and have been a loyal Spider supporter for 44 years. I think that gives me the right not to be referred to as belonging anywhere except UR🕸️🕷️
You are a respected voice and are well thought of. The rest of us hope to see you back.

8 starters plus seniors and grad students. This will leave us for sure with a rebuilding year.
I know it is the climate of the NCAA today but my gut tells me that there is something amiss
with Spider football.

Offers starting to come in for the guys. Mitchell has tweeted Stony Brook and Troy offers so far. Tomlinson has tweeted Missouri State and Tennessee Tech. ZPS has tweeted Towson and Bryant.

I will be anxious to see where all these guys land. Tough two weeks for our football team and supporters. These kids have been part of a winning program at a great academic institution. I hope we will start to get some answers on why so many are leaving. I guess each has their own reason but certainly hope some intense exit interviews are being done by staff to identify if there is a common theme.

Traynor with offers from Georgia Tech and Delaware. Mitchell adds a San Diego State offer.

Where they end up will tell us all we need to know. If to FBS, no problem. If to med to low FCS then we have an internal problem, either coaches or new conference.

Had the exact same thought ‘72. While I may not like it, if guys are moving to significantly larger programs I can understand it and that’s just part of it. If we have guys moving to CAA schools…yikes.

I recall a discussion a year ago about some UR graduate programs that were not open to athletes, any clue if that’s still the case? Seems like a huge issue if our intention is to redshirt players we have no way to keep around the whole time.

Apologies ‘79. Know we’re all frustrated so realize my attempt at humor may have gone over poorly. Hopefully you’ll choose to come back.
