Mens: Maine @RC - Wed 11/20 7pm ESPN+

They can't make any threes but keep trying, we're making ours and outrebounding them but it's still tied?

I was wondering if the constant subbing in and out has anything to do with forced shots. Maybe we need to let these guys, reserves included, settle in for a little longer so they don't feel pressure to score right away when out there. I normally don't worry as much about that, but we need to consider that when things are going so poorly right now. Maybe all the new guys are trying too hard and forcing things instead of running the offense and letting the game come to them. AP especially might be rushing shots. He has taken some bad ones and has to be a much better shooter than 4-22 from 3. Maybe starting him and letting him settle in will help.
Can't believe I just heard that from you. The world really is going thru a chaotic time.

This has always been one of the problems with new guys on Mooney's teams over the years - they play nervous because they're afraid of making a mistake and being pulled. Mooney doesn't give them a chance.

Hunt's shot looks absolutely awful tonight, and he's been open...layups, three, everything.

We were sold a false bill of goods. Fundamentals and talent absent from this team.

Watched the game for 15 minutes, never saw Richmond score a single point.
4 games into the season and we're already at "we need to win the A10 tournament to get into the NCAA".
Someone please remind me why we need to be in a multi-bid league?-

Wow. I am on record as being skeptical about this season, saying we had an awful lot of questions that needed to be answered and we'd need positive answers to most of them to be even as good as last year. But never in my wildest dreams (worst nightmares?) did I see this trainwreck coming! Expected we might have some problems defensively (and we do), but we are a certifiable mess on offense and I am not sure I see any light at the end of the tunnel except the oncoming train.

DLo had been our one beacon, but he looks like the burden of trying to be something he's not is already wearing on him physically and mentally! The incoming transfers are universally a huge disappointment. And while its our offense that stands out the most, I will say that none of the transfers can defend a lick. This was always going to have to be a team that excelled at Mooney ball to succeed, but this is the worst Mooneyball outfit we have seen maybe since his first year when he wasn't responsible for what he had. Beagle looks ok, but only on the offensive end and only on the trips he isn't turning it over (which is dramatically too many). The rest I am looking for the trait that might make them successful in our system? Glou might be able to shoot (but evidence to date says otherwise) but he for sure has no idea what we are doing/trying to do on offense and can't defend at all. Nescovic is the best of the bunch I guess which was expected, but he's nowhere near what we expected either.

Out shoot them. Out rebound them and still have to hang on for the win….too many turnovers and stupid fouls. This team m has along way to go. I guess a win is a win

Ungerer does a solid job announcing. Is this his first gig? He seems very smooth and professional.

Highlight of the night. Very good esp for having little experience. Maybe shave the neck for TV idk. We could use him on the court too. Always liked his game.

#14 for Maine is always open.
Every game there’s always one player from opposing team that we don’t guard, and he drains 3’s. #14 from Maine - the guy that shoots from the waist. Against Marist it was #24, and on and on. Never have agreed with Moon’s leaving hot shooters free to shoot.

Glad the Spiders won, it is a relief to know that maybe at least one or two things can go right in a game. Still a tiny win over a terrible team. Don't understand how anyone posts here that they aren't worried about our defense. Yes the offense has been dreadful and is rightly one focus, but to me defense is equally poor. It's just we've played terrible teams so far that miss lots of open 3s.

This version of Roche was who we've wanted to see for last 2+ years, but don't get to see that often. I mean he played 7m last game, so that didn't help, but he was hot tonight. Hope that continues. Hope someone else also remembers how to shoot.

Altogether, leaving the starters in for the first 8 minutes I think was a good idea. I have no idea how AP was the starter over Nescovic on a pure measure of how they've played this year, but maybe coaches think he's a better fit with that group or with Beagle specifically. Until he makes shots, he's basically Noyes giving UR a taller guy who grabs a few boards.

The hilarity of BB on the broadcast talking about Roche giving the team a dose of continuity because he's been with the program reeked of an inside the program spin job. If the landscape of college hoops is immediate revamp and plug and play new transfers, the system can't mandate a minimum of 2 years in it to be able to play good ball, but that's how they're framing things.

Gotta be able to win against all these bad teams because not many games like this will be wins against better teams.

Mooney just said we did a real good job with our defense. What game was he watching?
A game in which the opponent shot 20% from 3 and only 36% from the field? Is that not a decent defensive performance?

Didn't watch any of the game, but after seeing the final score I opened this thread hoping we could at least be happy about finally winning. How foolish of me.
