Wednesday's Game Cancelled

Well this is unfortunate news. I guess the silver lining is it’s better to have a game canceled against a lesser school than one of our “big” gets

doesn't this mean Kentucky will play Moorehead and then have extra days to prep for us?

Sunday game is the one we need to play.

This season is going to be crazy.

Disappointed we don’t get to open the season on Wednesday, but here’s hoping we can fill the schedule hole with a team that will help our NET a bit more.
Agree with this and the other glass half full comment is that 2 games in 3 days is likely better to start out the season than 3 in 5 days in terms of player conditioning.

So Ive not been following at all what a cancellation translates to. Presumably not a forfeit, but gives either team an opportunity to reschedule with each other, or theoretically with another willing program?

UK is still planning to play UDM because Calipari's son plays at UDM, but they have to do it before Dec. 19, so it's unlikely. We, on the other hand, have no reason to try to reschedule with them. But I'm sure we will try to schedule someone else.

Yep, the game just doesn't happen...no forfeit or anything. Then it's up to the schools to decide whether to reschedule the matchup, find different opponents, or just leave a hole in their schedule.

Duke's home opener on Wednesday got postponed after Garnder-Webb had a positive test. How about they just cancel it and have the Spiders make a pit stop at Cameron on their way to Rupp?

More seriously, Charlotte will be looking for games since their MTE with Tennessee and VCU disappeared. Not a great opponent, but should be a bit better than Detroit and is somewhat regional.

You want an incentive to keep testing negative? Make the team that tests positive forfeit...

Last team standing...

This season isn't going to happen. Gonna be hard for the kids to get really motivated and pumped up for each game knowing that there is a good possibility that the season doesn't happen and the same result as last year occurs. Beyond absolutely nuts and sad.

The NCAA needs to ante up for those NBA daily rapid tests for all teams if it wants this season to happen. It won't be cheap, but the price of losing the season or any semblance of it is greater, and I think it could probably swing the cost...

The NCAA needs to realize that a positive PCR test at 35 Ct in a healthy 20 year old is actually a positive thing. Pun intended.

Charlotte has its backup plan...hosting ECU and D-II Belmont Abbey in an MTE starting Friday. ECU pulled out of the Fort Myers MTE over the weekend due to Covid concerns. Charlotte and Belmont Abbey were already scheduled to play on Monday, but they've turned it into a round robin MTE to get Charlotte and ECU eligible for the extra games.
