SLU Game Postponed

Nobody said there is a sport that requires its athletes to wear a mask. You though insinuated that exercising And wearing a mask was difficult or nearly impossible and Eight disproved you.

Whether or not a sport requires it has no relevance to the oxygen levels of wearing a mask. Hence, moving the goalposts.
Baloney if wearing a mask didn’t impact the athletes ability to perform they’d be doing it

Not going over the speed limit decreases the likelihood of accidents so why doesn’t everybody do it? This is a strawman argument.

Its one thing for us idiots to $hitwhisle on this forum. Its another thing to have a title in the athletic department and then use it to bully your own fan base and to antagonize another schools baseball team because you're too stupid to twitter, calling them cowards. I know hes a volunteer, but I have seen enough of his involvment in our athletic department. His little hissy fit is as embarrasing as the A10's silence on this matter.
Have you seen some of Jason Vida's tweets?

Sorry, back on topic.

Not at all. Run a few miles in a mask and let me know. In this hyper sensitive environment if wearing a mask worked they’d be requiring it.

I know right. Ford seems like a pretty dumb guy, and a common trait of stupid people is to be anti-mask. Two peas from the same pod lol
Yea mandating masks has been an amazing success story. No one is testing positive and all illness has been eliminated. Wooohooo!! And the world is a much happier place since we are all covered up and cant see the miserable expression on peoples faces.

Let's all go out and run 2 miles!

Oh that just gave me a great idea. Let's have an annual Spidernation 5K, two laps around Westhampton Lake, beer at the end. All proceeds go to the Billboard Fund, after we pay for the beer.
I'm in, lol. I have given up on the spidernation pick up game, I'm afraid of tearing my Achilles, and if I have to shoot a FT with SpiderK watching it might look like Shaq.

I find the use of the qualifier "appropriate" protocols an interesting choice. Granted, I'm a bit of a grammar nerd, and it's probably nothing - maybe even unintentional - but it's just an unnecessary addition to Hardt's statement. It reads like we're trying to give ourselves an out.

Why not just say we followed all protocols? Are there protocols that our program finds "inappropriate?"

This is yet another example of the ridiculous over reactions to a virus that 99% of people fully recover from. Sure, be careful, but everyone passed the test to play TODAY! Completely ridiculous and really an embarrassment to the A10 in my opinion. And I agree, players can play without a freaking mask and then have to come to the bench and put a mask on. Again, ridiculous.

From what I understand, SLU only had an Athletic Trainer with them today. He was the medical person calling the shots.
Hmmm, insider with multiple burner accounts. But thanks for the propaganda, I'm sure you have to be in Richmond to evaluate a protocol. Say hi to your buddy Matt Smith and beat up the baseball team for us.

Bilikens missed 7 consecutive games over a recent 34 day period,Dec 24- Jan 26 which led up to the recent Dayton loss at home on Tuesday.Rusty and 0-1 in A10 play, likely going to 0-2 with a UR W.

Few updates to JOC’s article. Hardt won’t say anything more. Mooney says he hasn’t spoken to Ford about it.

No more comment from Hardt. Big Hat No Cattle. There is never transparency at UR. Hardt knows why they left.

Now u open up to distrust in our protocols from other teams when we were just announced as A10 tourney hosts. We apparently have protocols in place that affect all off campus students at Richmond EXCEPT student athletes. AD Hardt and VP of Students apparently don't even communicate on such policies and/or enforcement. Left hand doesn't know what right hand is doing. Should be amazing but it's not. We've been on Covid pause twice. Our coach, like many coaches, removes his mask in violation of protocols regularly. We stay in public hotels. Not while we're traveling but here in Richmond!

I find SLU leaving and not playing this game ridiculous. But it's a black eye for us just as much. Let's not act like our sh$t don't stink. There is lot of evidence that demonstrates otherwise. And if we just sit there and say nothing like typical little ol' UR then we reap what we sow.

And he's got even another account on RTD. It's all coming together...Gallipoli was the 1 at the Westin seminar!

From their message board on page 5:
Dr. Burch has been SLU's team doctor for 14 years and seems to have had the trust of both Coach Majerus and Ford.....
Later on:
I don't think Jonathon Burch is a doctor. He is the head athletic trainer. He has no Dr. or MD with his name. I couldn't find the team(s) doctor or doctors on the SLU website....
Then this:
Your team physician appears to be Jamil Neme, M.D. or at least he's on twitter listing himself as such. He's an assistant Professor at SLU and recently "liked" a VCU fan's tweet that it was an issue within U of R. Take that for whatever it's worth....

They only had this guy named Burch with them.... There was no doctor with them today.

High school basketball in Connecticut is wearing masks. My daughter started practice last week and she has been laying on her bed on her phone for about 3 months. Her coach stated they would do extra running and conditioning in order to adapt. So far amazingly I have not heard any complaints about the masks.
NC HS in Wilmington wearing masks

Like I and a few others said from the get go Hardt knows exactly why. This makes it crystal clear. But again no transparency. Oh let's keep it confidential. What a sad bunch all these people are. No leadership none. & here is SLU essentially doubling down the blame on us.

And Mooney would have us believe he doesn't know why SLU left either. You mean to tell me that Chris Mooney, the highest paid guy at UR, facing a big game on national TV ESPN that gets canceled, isn't told by his AD what the reason was.

Give me a break. Quit with the deception it's insulting. Make a NCAA once in a while and maybe u can get away with that.

So they got to town Thursday afternoon, immediately learned of something concerning, did nothing about it for 24 hours and then decided to tell us 5 hours before the game they were going home? Oh, ok. F off with that garbage.

So Hardt/Moon either knew something was up and are lying or SLU is lying. And the league won’t comment any further. Great situation all around.

That's not at all what that timeline of events says.

Durando updated his article again. Only additional thing beyond the above tweets looks to be this:

May said there was no indication of the issue before SLU traveled.

“We’re disappointed our team couldn’t play,” he said. “We were there, prepared and ready to go. All of our personnel are healthy and remain fully cleared.”

and

"We’re confident the right decision was made."

So there’s no indication of a failed test which I guess suggests they felt either the tests were insufficient, inaccurate, or improperly applied? With the other possibility being that there was a failure to follow some other kind of protocol that a clean test wouldn’t adequately supersede.

I find it hard to believe that SLU flew here just to fake some intent to play. Doesn’t mean their reason to bail was valid, just sounds to me like it was serious enough to question how diligent our approach has been.

Good research, but doesn't change what ever the facts are. Hopefully will come to light soon so we can make our own judgment.

Look, if there was actually a legit problem, come out and say so like grown adults. Why on Earth would they want to keep it confidential? To prevent hurting our feelings? What they've done is actually worse. "Yeah, we had a big problem with the way Richmond handled things, and it was so egregious that we decided not to tell anyone about it."

Give me a break. Produce your evidence publicly or expect no one to believe you.

The confidentiality thing has Richmond written all over it. Richmond loves to operate that way.

slu has doubled down on the issue being protocols on our side. We have not denied that at all. Slu objected to our protocols we said it’s not a big deal u should still play but if u don’t let’s agree to keep it confidential.

And then Mooney gives us the I don’t know anything about anything line.

there is something rotten in Denmark. I don’t know what that means but my mom would say it. Sub in Richmond for Denmark.

I mean I have no problem calling our guys out but the last program I'm going to believe without any evidence at this point is SLU. Their credibility when it comes to covid is worse than every other program in America. Please, SLU, tell us all about how careful you've been with your covid protocols, would you? I'll wait.

If they want to produce evidence like big boys, I'm all ears. Until then, sorry, not buying it.
