Ill tell you why Trump will win. It's because Biden is so bad. And people are reminded of how bad Biden and his policies are every time they go to the gas station and grocery store. Also think that RFK and Manchin ( I think he will run as no labels nominee) will take more votes from Biden than Trump.

And if the border is such a mess, why do the Republicans in the House fail to fix it? The Senate has passed a bipartisan immigration bill for them, which the Republican-controlled house won't even consider because they put party before country.
Woody and Fan 1, you do understand that their are immigration laws on the books now that the Biden administration refuses to support. If he would enforce the laws and reinstate Trump era polocies like remain in Mexico, the border issue would be fixed. So Biden doesn't need congressional action to solve the problem. The issue is he doesn’t want to solve the problem. And even if he needed congressional action, why didnt he pass whatever it is he needed to fix the border when Democrats controlled both houses of Congress? For the deal he is working now, why in the hell would anyone support a bill that wouldn't close the boarder until 5k illegals have crossed a day? And what makes you think the Biden admin would close the border after 5k crossed that day? You two need to get your head out of the sand and realize we are being invaded by military aged men from places that are not friendly to the USA.
That was the Obama policy. The Trump policy was to stop them from entering the US, through the Remain in Mexico policy. I think we need legislation to codify that policy, as well as other policies, such as ending catch and release and detention and repatriation of illegals already in this country.
First, let me say that I am not happy with what is happening at the border and we need a fix. But please tell me exactly what laws the Biden administration is breaking. I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to know. My understanding of the current law is that anyone claiming their life is in danger is entitled to enter the US if they claim asylum. Trump actually broke that law by denying those trying to enter on that basis and then was bailed out by Title 42 when the border was closed due to Covid. And of course virtually all are going to claim asylum because they know what the law is. Trump also controlled Congress for 2 years, why didn't his administration enact laws instead of him issuing executive orders that can be changed by successors? And the up to 5k you mention would not be "illegals", they would have to qualify under the guidelines of the new law. And I would say that you need to get your head out of the sand and realize that the MAGA extremists, not Biden, are standing in the way of a potential real solution to the border problem solely because it would hurt Trump's chance of being reelected. Reasonable Republican senators recognize this is a rare opportunity to solve the border problem while Republicans have leverage with Democrats due to Ukraine/Israel funding.
It's the federal governments job to not let people illegally cross the boarder. They are letting millions of people cross under Biden. If you don't understand that, I'm not sure what to tell you. Trump, like him or not, had the border much more secure. Just a fact. Letting 5k illegals cross daily is not solving the border issue. Biden in his first week as President rolled back all of Trumps broder executive orders that were working, all out of spite. Now we are left with Bidens border crisis.
Part of the issue is that Trump‘s EO’s were of questionable legality and/or ethics. The real solution needs to come from legislation. Trump had both houses of the Congress in his first two years and he squandered that. Now, any solution requires compromise which the Senate seems to be able to do but will be stillborn in the House.

Everyone knows this has been a problem for decades. Over that period, both Parties have had opportunities when they controlled the Presidency and both Houses. Nothing got done.
Seems disingenuous to single out the current House as if they are the cause of the problem. Should have been addressed years ago. While we wait, enforcement of existing law and the exercise of the broad discretion the President holds, should be the first steps to reducing the flow of illegals.

Because Mike Johnson, who is supposed to be the Speaker but is actually a Trump cult Lieutenant, lied. He said in November that Ukraine funding was contingent on border legislation being included in the Ukraine funding, and now has flipped to say that anything sent by the Senate is DOA, because that's what Trump is demanding. Sad to see Ukraine going down but if Trump and Putin are happy, that's all that matters to the MAGA cultists.

James Lankford, Republican senator who is leading the negotiations with Chris Murphy, Democrat, said yesterday they are close to an agreement and there is no way he would agree to that 5000 number, that it is "misinformation" and that people need to not listen to the BS put out there by the internet. Langford has been censured by the Republican party of Oklahoma for negotiating on a problem that the Republicans have complained about for years, but the cult leader does not want a solution to the problem. Lankford is one of the most conservative senators but if anyone disagrees with the cult leader he or she can expect to be disciplined.

The number of illegals allowed in under Biden is much larger- it is closer to 8 million over 3 years. It is unsustainable. That is the size of the state of Virginia. With all due respect, Democrats have made this political, because they want the votes to turn this great country into a socialist utopia.
Appears the plan is average 5,000 daily/35,000 max weekly triggering mandatory DHS border shutdown. Likewise shutdown at max 8,500 any given day per multiple news sources.

Hard to fathom since the details will come out eventually and I can't imagine why he would lie about it, but if its reported by "multiple news sources" I guess it must be true. I was hoping Lankford was better than most of the lying Republicans, you know, the ones who claim the election was stolen and the January 6 criminals are now "hostages".
They can't vote yet. And when you support amnesty for those that willingly broke the law by crossing the border, you just encourage more illegals to come. Why not just enforce the laws we have and start defending the border. Is that not the most logical place to start?
