Charlotte Game (and travel) thread - Wed 11/13 7pm ESPN+

Yep I have been a little critical of Quinn in the past, but he had a skill level, and though not that athletic he was 7 feet tall with competitiveness and love of the game.
He was also (and by a pretty fair margin) the best low post defender we have had in awhile (at least since Barrett). He wasn't a shot blocker but he really knew how to defend by doing all the non-athletic things (e.g. beat the person to the spot he wants, defend from the proper angle for the entry pass they want etc.) that can make you a good defender even without super athletism.

TJ has a reflection on Mooney in the latest edition of the alumni magazine...the first Richmond game he ever watched was the Mooney Meltdown™ against Charlotte. 😂

This quote, "My first impression of Mooney was this guy really wants to win" from TJ is kind of stunning. TJ probably doesn't know of the rest of the story around the game with Charlotte. Mooney apologizing for this passion the next day and then completely changing his sideline demeanor after that game from a coach that coached with passion to one that we have today.

I think Mooney learned probably the most valuable lesson he ever learned about the state of UR athletics that day. In that, if you wanna coach here for a long time, you need to present and project as this buttoned up/polished intellectual looking guy, who is above the fray of showing "sophomoric" emotion in a sports ball game. W are Ivy league wannabes and the Ivy's don't care that much about competitive athletics nor can we.
