Gameday! Spiders (6-1) travel down to Raleigh to take on NC State (3-4) at 3PM. NC State started the season ranked firmly in the Top 25 on major polls, but after dropping a mid-week against Liberty and then three neutral site games to Ohio State, Alabama, and Coastal Carolina this past weekend, they have fallen out of the
D1 Baseball poll but do still remain #22 in Baseball America's
list (falling 8 spots from #14).
The Wolf Pack were picked to finish 7th out of 16 in a very strong ACC, and reliver
Jacob Dudan was probably the most awarded preseason player on their roster after his First Team Freshman All-American season in 2024. However, he pitched on the 23rd so I am not sure we will see him today.
A hitter to highlight would be
Chris McHugh, a Sophomore transfer from VCU. He is hitting .360 with one home run and a team leading 9 RBIs on the early season, but the bulk of that production came in the first series of the year against Fordham. Interestingly, their other two early stand-out hitters, Justin DeCriscio and Brayden Fraasman, are also transfers from San Diego and Lincoln Trail, respectively.
Hoping for a competitive game, and we can take advantage of a really solid team on paper that is scuffling a bit.
