Delonnie Hunt

I noticed at the game that Delonnie Hunt continued to engage, motivate and inspire his team. He has kept a positive attitude and outlook despite his injury. He repeatedly got the crowd revved up. It was encouraging to see his character shine through.
I went to the Athletics Alumni Award event before the game last night to support a good friend and former Spider pitcher who was being honored. Delonnie was seated at our table and I had the chance to chat with him for a bit. Someone asked him about his five favorite games as a Spider, and he said he remembers all of them from last year, especially the White Out win over Dayton and the Red Out victory against VCU. He said the Wagner crowds were really small so a packed and loud RC was pretty cool. On that note, I was happy with the crowd size last night on a crazy rainy Saturday night in Richmond.

Delonnie is all class, and I am confident he will be successful in whatever he ends up doing.

I hope DLo gets back on the court somehow, for him. He deserves it.

Separately, though, Mooney gets zero excuse credit for the fact that he's been injured. We had him as an active player for the entire OOC schedule and we sucked. We were awful. It wasn't his fault, it was Mooney's. But some people just want to write off the results post-DLo as if once a good player gets hurt, you just throw in the towel. No, good coaches find ways to win anyway. Bad ones lose and lose some more.
