2025 Baseball Season

Gameday! 3PM vs William & Mary. Unfortunately, audio only today.

The Tribe are off to a 1-2 start after a three game series against Rhode Island. The series included an insane 36-22 game on Sunday (so crazy the NCAA published an article about it; wild numbers in there). It is manager Rob McCoy's first year with the team, and they were picked to finish 8th in the CAA. One player to watch would be Ben Parker, a Grad. OF who was picked to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Last year he was All-CAA Second Team and was #51 on D1 Baseball's Top 100 Outfielders list. Off to a solid start this season, batting .636 (7-11) with 1 HR, 4 RBIs, along with 3 walks.

As MD mentioned above, likely we will not play the VMI game, but given it will likely be postponed I will still throw in a player to watch. Grayson Fitzwater is a Junior 1st baseman named to 1st Team Preseason All-SoCon. Last season he broke VMI's single-season RBI record (63) and tied the single-season home run record (18). For a team that does not historically hit for a ton of power, his bat definitely stands out in the 2/3 spot in the lineup. In their four game sweep of UMES, Fitzwater went 3-16, but did contribute 3 RBIs. As a team, VMI put up a staggering 27 steals on 33 attempts, good for number 1 in the nation in this early season.

Ugh, pretty annoying there's no way to watch today. Why are we even playing the game at this time if fans can't watch?

More schedule changes...our games Friday and Saturday vs. Lehigh have been cancelled. We'll now play a doubleheader Sunday vs. Fairfield, followed by a 3rd matchup vs. the Stags on Monday afternoon.

Fairfield should be a good test for us - they were voted as the preseason MAAC favorites and have 5 players on preseason all-conference, including preseason POY Dean Ferrara.

Spiders need a big rally in the backend of the DH...trailing 6–1 in the top of the 8th with Fairfield threatening to add more.

14 hits and 7 walks off five Spider pitchers so far.

Edit: Armson gets two strikeouts to end the Fairfield threat in the 8th. Put yer rally caps on!

Fairfield has taken a 9-2 lead through 3 innings, and it's looking like we're gonna drop the series. Fairfield is a legit mid-major opponent (4 straight regular season MAAC championships and 30 win seasons), but I'm starting to get worried about our pitching depth/quality again.

I'd like to see Bilka get the chance to be a Saturday starter instead of piggbybacking E-Rod. Need both of them to give us at least 5 quality innings every weekend.

Wow, the boys battled all the way back to make it 9-8 heading to the 9th, but Fairfield hit a solo homer to make it a 2 run game.

7-8-9 due up for the Spiders, last chance in this one.

Holy crap, Spiders have taken advantage of two HBP and a walk to load the bases, then two-run single by Bernstein to knot things up at 10. New pitcher coming on with Spiders on the corners and one out.
