See Starbucks laying off 1,100 employees. Thought they were like government jobs, guaranteed for life.
Starbucks has competition. Its share of the retail market rises and falls, and its employment numbers adjust accordingly. If Dunkin' is taking away a share of its business, it doesn't need as many employees.
Who competes with the DoD? Who competes with the DOT? Who competes with HUD? Who competes with the Department of the Interior? Who competes with the IRS? Nobody.
All government employees have probationary periods to determine if they can do their jobs. No one is guaranteed a job for life.
How many thousands of Pentagon workers will be fired for no reason, other than Fatso flexing his muscles? Do you think the Pentagon's workload or responsibilities will decrease when thousands of employees are fired? No, they'll have just as much work, just fewer people to do it. And military personnel will have to fill these civilian jobs, taking them off the line.
Same with the IRS. There will be just as many tax returns to process this year as last year, probably more since employment was so high under Biden. Now there will be thousands fewer people to process those returns, to answer questions, to check for mistakes, hidden refunds, or fraud. And your return might get delayed.
Oh, and nice to see we're voting on the same side as North Korea and Russia at the United Nations. What a great peer group.
