Didn't we only "play" them once last year?is this the 1st time we didn't get Davidson twice?

You say potato, I say p'otato. LaSalle and St. Joes are both terrible (although LaSalle does seem to beat us more than they should). Mooney seems to have a zen like ability to be beat both Davidson and URI, both of which are solid mid pack A-10 teams.I'd like to switch Davidson & LaSalle and St Joe & URI but maybe nearly perfect?
Which is why I say playing H&H with Davidson is better than with LaSalle. At least for us, no one else seems to win at Belk. You say potato, I say p'otato. I misunderstood. Thought you were saying you wanted to sub Davidson and LaSalle for URI and St. Joes. Yes, I am in agreement. I don't like playing LaSalle twice. Mooney is going to lose one of those LaSalle games and it will be a damn anchor on our resume.Which is why I say playing H&H with Davidson is better than with LaSalle. Yes I was saying sub Davidson for LaSalle and St Joe for URI (as to locations). But not sure that second will change the Quads...I misunderstood. I agree. I am thinking 4-2 against St Bona, SLU, and VCU would give us some solid wins, and then go at least 10-2 against everyone else to get to at least 14-4 IC, which should be good for first or second. Our A10 schedule is absurdly favorable for an aspiring tournament team. Home and homes against the top 3 teams (besides us) home games against most of the middle of the pack teams. Away games against most of the bottom tier teams.
Based only on my anecdotal following of SLU and Dayton this offseason, I would agree with you on that. Also still wondering if Dayton will be better than SLU. I feel like they may have reloaded better.
I thought it was 4 games but no tournament. Is the Charlotte event a 4 team tournament or just a 2 game doubleheader?
Anthony Grant has proven repeatedly that he is above average when it comes to recruiting, and largely average to below below average when it comes to the product he puts on the floor (coaching them up). Watching him work a game, he isn't impressive.I was touting Dayton's talent prior to last season and did not work out well for them. I will say Grant is not content with status quo, I think he has reloaded, turned the roster over. They will have talent again
I was thinking about going, but now that I know there are millions of Bonaventure grads there, I'm not so sure....Yeah Charlotte is a fun city, some great restaurants and with a mid-December date you can take in a full day of college basketball and possibly fit in a Hornets or Panthers game if you stick around for a day or two depending on their schedules.
Yeah, this should be two really good games. Schedulers coming through here of recent. Need to get one more big OOC game on the schedule in my opinion.Oh, nice! I saw that tweet scroll by my feed out of the corner of my eye, but the Richmond mention didn't register, duh.
We get another shot at Fatts. Great tournament, and love to get the guaranteed shot at Maryland...they should be very good. And then the second game is very solid either way.
Mite probably is like me and still thinks Maryland in the ACC.NC State, Louisville, and…?
Then we have to send Louisville back to the Big East to balance things out. 😉Mite probably is like me and still thinks Maryland in the ACC.
Exactly, too many things going on today, So I zoned back to Y2K.Mite probably is like me and still thinks Maryland in the ACC.
They are not still in the Metro? Then we have to send Louisville back to the Big East to balance things out. 😉
Thanks for the effort SF. So basically it is a wash compared to last year and the season becomes a true “redo”. Too bad there is no marquee home game. Looks rather weak from that perspective, but after not being able to go to games at all last season there is a good chance attendance numbers will be better than average.I'm updating the first post in this thread as we get additional info, and I've just added last year's final NET rankings and quads (based on location) to get a sense for how things are shaping up.
Non-conference:
Q1 (1): Maryland (N)
Q2 (3): NC State (N), Louisville or Mississippi St. (N), Wofford (A)
Q3 (4): Toledo (H), ODU (H), Georgia St. (H), UNI (A)
Q4 (2): Bucknell (H), W&M (H)
A-10:
Q1 (3): Bona (A), SLU (A), VCU (A)
Q2 (5): Bona (H), SLU (H), VCU (H), URI (A), Mason (A)
Q3 (6): Davidson (H), Dayton (H), UMass (H), Mason (H), Duquesne (A), La Salle (A)
Q4 (4): St. Joe's (H), La Salle (H), Fordham (H), GW (H)
So overall that yields the following with three games left to schedule:
Q1: 4 games
Q2: 8 games
Q3: 10 games
Q4: 6 games
Last year, we ended up with the following:
Q1: 5 games
Q2: 6 games
Q3: 7 games
Q4: 4 games
Yeah, the Quad system was only used one, maybe two years prior to the NET (with RPI). I can't recall an at-large with a ranking of 76 or worse.No. The “best” possible Q3 opponent would be #76 played at home. The NET has obviously been used for a only a few years, but no team anywhere close to that has earned an at-large. One or two teams in earlier years may have approached it based on RPI (thinking of a USC team about a decade ago), but they weren’t quite that low.
So Kentucky & West Virginia weren't home & home? Thanks for the effort SF. So basically it is a wash compared to last year and the season becomes a true “redo”. Too bad there is no marquee home game. Great analysis. I have got to think with our returning squad that we are hunting for one more really good Quad 1 BCS game road game.I'm updating the first post in this thread as we get additional info, and I've just added last year's final NET rankings and quads (based on location) to get a sense for how things are shaping up.
