Spiders paused through February 12 - GMU, Dayton, GW, and VCU games postponed

If you tested positive and had symptoms, you can be with others after:
  • At least 10 days since symptoms first appeared and
  • At least 24 hours with no fever without fever-reducing medication and
  • Other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving
**Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation

If you tested positive and have no symptoms, you can be with others after:
  • 10 days have passed since the date you had your positive test

Close Contact:
  • They still recommend 14 days, but ...
CDC gave local officials the option to reduce quarantines after close contact to:
  • After day 10 without testing
  • After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later)
Not sure what Virginia is going with.

I think the point is to not take unnecessary risks that can be avoided. I would argue basketball is one of these risks.

Getting food, on the other hand, would seem like a necessary risk. Also, it’s one you can do in as safe a way as possible (I.e. wear a mask, stay socially distant, etc.)
Isn’t the conjecture here player got it from a friend? Probably indicating not another player. I bet players being tested regularly and secluded are at a lower risk than other non athletes

Yes, that is the conjecture. Indicating that probably one of our players broke protocol and now we got burned by it. Discipline has never been a hallmark of any Mooney led team.

It's ALL conjecture. Mooney, regardless of his coaching, has a huge credibility issue with all the lying. He can't be trusted.

God, this is looking more like politics now...

Yep. I'm not going to go full on saying he was lying but he certainly was being generous with the truth. What gets me about Mooney is that literally ANY time something is wrong in the program, he just disappears, doesn't give media interviews, unless it is a carefully scripted (no question and answer) release.

When things are great (like after the Kentucky win), Mooney is all over talking to everyone. Again this comes back to character and leadership. Being a leader is easy when things are going well, but your really good leaders show their mettle when times are tough. Mooney hides/disappears during tough times, it is who he is.

Contrast this to Tony Bennett and how he deals with adversity and you will see how a great college coach handles adversity vs. how Mooney handles it.

I don't think they need to disclose who got it - but they could at least say we have player or multiple players positive, or they could say coach or multiple coaches tested positive. I also think it would go a long way if they said what concern St. Louis had that made them leave - I am sure they know it and how will other teams feel now coming to play UR at Robins Center if they know St, Louis left and next day - we are paused.

Mooney and Hardt tried to play the cheeky PR game last week and look really stupid in hindsight. SLU looks to be 100% right in not playing the game. They could be shut down just like we are right now.

Or, we could have played the game while we had the chance to since THE PLAYERS WERE CLEARED TO PLAY, and everything else that happened after that still would have happened.

You do understand that they could test negative but still have the virus, right?

Let's say you are a college basketball coach, and your daughter comes home from college and tests negative, should you still not be in the same room with her while she is home because she could test negative and still have the virus? Let's say we found out VCU's coach was seen maskless walking in his yard with his daughter. Do we cancel the game against them if we found this out? If you look hard enough, can't you find just about any reason to cancel a game if you want to? I mean, the players were cleared to play. Play the game!

VCU lives free inside your head.

Here is my analog to what the problem has been.

I'm standing on a 70 foot cliff with another person.

The other person jumps. After they have fallen 20 feet I ask if they are ok, and they say yes.
I decide I don't need to wait until 30 seconds after they fall 70 feet to ask if they are ok.
The check in after 20 feet is enough for me to determine it is safe for me to jump...

Lol. Can you maybe find something a little more realistic? No one would jump off a 70 foot cliff and expect to be okay. How about your friend decides to walk into a cave even though there could be bears in there. Well, he walks in, explores around a little bit and comes out and says there are no bears in there. I think it's pretty safe for you to go on in there. But, I guess you could always be extra cautious and not go in in case a bear shows up at some point. That would be like never playing a basketball game because your opponents might have covid, even though they were cleared to play.

Of course, but we were cleared to play. Why should you ever play a game if you use that argument?
Well I don't believe that test results alone clear you to play is the point. If you have evidence of close contact and there's enough concern that the recency of the contact would not permit for a valid test, then you have to make a tough call if that's a reasonable risk to take.

In this case, it seems pretty clear that we had people who tested negative but likely were covid positive.

Ok, here is something more realistic.
Everyone gets exposed to a virus. The incubation period is always exactly 70 hours. Everyone gets tested after 20 hours (instead of waiting 72 hours) and everyone is negative. Therefore it is concluded no one will get the virus from the initial exposure.

They were cleared to play, but should not have been. It's not that hard.

If Hardt and/or Mooney feel that St. Louis should have played that game, they should come out publicly and say so.

OMG I cant believe you all are trying to analyze this ridiculousness. The virus can not be contained, much less stopped. Fauci, the lunatic/fame seeking psychopath believes he is God and can stop nature from running its course. It doesnt work and the suffering the “cure” has caused is far worse. And to top it all off, virtually all people not already near death will survive. So stop supporting this nonsense with your analysis. Instead state emphatically how insane the process is and decry it at every opportunity for the sake and health of our youth.

The Chief Medical Advisor to the President and Director of the National Institute Of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is fame seeking for, checks notes, doing the job that he’s paid to do.

But I guess we’re supposed to trust some random poster who watched one episode of Tucker Carlson more than someone who has spent their life studying infectious diseases. Lol

There is no scientist who has been 100% right on everything in his or her career. The definition of a scientist literally is "a person who conducts scientific research to advance knowledge in an area of interest." If scientists knew everything, they wouldn't need to conduct any research.

Scientists know more about science than the rest of us who are not scientists.

Also, I have no respect for VCU at all.

Trap, why shouldn't they disclose who has covid? Seems like I know and hear of many players and coaches on everyone else's teams who test positive; as well as all pro players, public officials, celebrities, politicians, etc etc...

I am sick and tired of MY SCHOOL being always cloaked in secrecy! SICK OF IT!!!

Concerning VCU, I think that its possible to respect a coach or a player, and still hate the shit out of the program.
