Luke Hunger - 2022 Offer/Visit

I thought this article was interesting and sorry if it has been posted already. We will likely need to wait a little bit before the decision as he said he will likely visit one more after Richmond. Article dated 10/15.

“I’m hearing a lot from Northwestern, BC, Richmond, and UPenn. I visited Miami, Harvard and Northwestern and will probably visit Richmond and one more.”

maybe they're just working on the social media announcement graphics?

That would be nice, this would be a great get imo. The type we have been in the top 5 with the last few years and end up losing out. Would be even more impressive to break the NMH P6 or IVY or bust cycle. And again, would point to a trend of successfully mining the very fertile NEPSAC - with Burton being other recent recruit.

That reminds me, someone remind me to troll the Temple board at some point, I see they are picked 8th in the AAC, sandwiched between those powers Tulane and Tulsa :).

we haven't had the NCAA glory you deserve, but we've had some very good teams the last decade. not the end results we've wanted but hardly a joke.

Good to hear fan1. This would be an important recruit for us, and it seems like our plan B's are dwindling to non existent at this point.
yeah, we don't have a lot of lines in the water. and I think we would if we didn't feel we were strong with someone.
we must feel we're in a good spot with Hunger or Buchanan or some under the radar guy we don't know about ... and I've lost confidence in our chances with Buchanan after the recent Pitt full court press.

I want to remind you all, often we have had kids, a player come out of nowhere that we sign.
Admittedly, with all of the social networking going on, a lot doesn’t stay secret. But every now and then. Boom

It sucks that Mooney can never close the deal on the big recruit. I know every kid is different and has different priorities and interests, but just every once in a while it would be nice to land the kid that we know is our top priority.

Bah...figured they had a good shot with the Big 10, academics, and Brumbaugh already on board.

yep. I had us at 20%. still a gut punch. he would have been a great fit. now we'll be desperate next class for a 5 to play with Walz.

perfect target to shoot for, but unless we somehow surprise with Buchanan we have to go to plan B. wonder if we put offers out soon, or if we wait. the transfer market will be red hot this spring.

I think most schools now would look at the transfer market to fill this hole, but not Mooney's MO, so who knows. I like Walz, he seems like a good prospect, but I am not picturing much early impact. Really leaves us in the same boat of missing impact and depth on the interior, probably both next season.

Very good choice academically. Terrible f'ing choice athletically.

Transfer portal in 2 years.
I doubt it. NMH guys are almost always academics first. he'll play and they most likely won't win much. but he's getting what he wanted. a terrific network for the next 40 years.

I'm impatient so waiting for the transfer market would be tough for me! but there will be opportunities if we do hold off.

I do believe Matt and Sal come back so with Walz we have depth at the 5 for one year. Hunger would have really solidified that position long term. next class big man will be very important.

big forward might be a bigger need than the 5 for next year. I think Burton likely becomes the bigger forward and that opens time for others at SF, but then we're kind of small. Sal might get his shot. or maybe Noyes is the future. a guy like Buchanan would really solidifyy that position long term.

there's no need for a 2 or 3 in this class, and we're strong at the 1 with Nelson, Wilson and Bailey.

Shocker - we lose to a Big 10 school with a Duke head coach. But as mentioned before - hopefully we were close, and if in a year or two he is looking to transfer, we should be the first call he gets from the transfer portal.

How good of a salesman is a coach, that is liked and well respected by his big man, Grant, and yet he can’t even get his brother to come here. Even his mother wanted him to play with his brother.
As someone who has been in sales his entire adult life, CM is not “asking for the order” soon enough.
