Job Postings

London would be a terrible hire. He set our program and UVA's back years. Terrible in game coach and left our team very short on linemen that took us a long time to recover from. He won the national championship with Clawson's team, not his.

Since Miller left as AD,Gill the new AD does not know how to manage either up or down.He has the stigma inside RC within the coaching ranks as being an empty suit with absolutely no leadership qualities. In essence, the wrong guy for us at the wrong time.Crutcher the new Prez has been around for only 1.5 years
and really hasn't been in touch as to what has been going on inside RC up until recently.Rocco has been going at it alone on an array of pressing problems with no support from Gill.
Lots of stuff will hit the fan if Danny leaves. If I were Gill,I'd be looking for another job right now.Same for Walsh.

Very disappointing to hear.

Londons a good dude and I don't blame him for leaving, but I don't want him anywhere near our sideline unless he's wearing palm palms.

Guy couldn't recruit lineman, and was a terrible game manager(still pissed about the Scotty McGee return). Excellent motivator, but not a program builder or long term sustainer. Thankfully we were so loaded that year spidernation could of coached them to a NC.

You called him a dope. A man who took over losing teams at 3 different schools and made them all black college national champions.

Deleted in the interest of "civility."

I'll just paraphrase him again.
It's HBCU football, doesn't really mean much. It's a whole different level from us and it showed a few weeks ago. He can't coach at our level and would have very real problems recruiting.

Calling Broadway a dope demonstrates not just an inability to evaluate a good head coach, but an incredible lack of respect for a man who has always emphasized doing things "the right way."

He may not be a fit for UR - to my knowledge he has never expressed an interest in coaching anywhere other than HBCUs - but he's a tremendously successful coach.

His number one rule is "Don't do anything that's gonna embarrass your mother."
Indeed.
Doing things the right way is easy.....doing things the right way and winning is difficult.

Rocco has been doing things the right way and winning and he's not leaving so old Rod can stay down at A&T and keep doing his thing.

I like Mike London. He did give us our only national championship .

He did what he did with Clawson's recruits. His failure at UVa, many argue, was a result of his lack of recruiting for crucial positions, the importance of which was not recognized by him. I do like him as a person and love his emotion, but he is not the one. He would not be on my top 10 list even though he does give good cry. That, and the fact that he is probably currently making twice what we would pay him as associate head coach at Maryland probably prevents him from considering such a job.

The real problem I foresee should we lose DR is that according to most on this board, we do not have an AD with any connections or with any experience with respect to the college football world, unlike Miller, one of the best ADs ever at UR, maybe on the East Coast. Miller was connected with several quality coaches and ADs who he frequently turned to for advice and who respected him and his opinion. Nothing wrong with Chuck Boone, a legend in his own right, who had similar connections and who I would trust to make a good decision as well, but it was Miller who assembled a modern athletic department and structure within which we have a necessary chain of command and delegation of responsibilities which bring together all our resources and maximize our funding efforts, an organization and administration on par with or beyond most all others, especially at our level.

There are others outside UR who I would like us to turn to for advice, but no one that I would like better, should the need arise, than to bring in Jim Miller to lead or consult with respect to a new hire.

So you're sticking with "idiot" and "dope."

Man, I was hoping as a community we could prove iSpider wrong.

I am done supporting this program if we lose Rocco.
Then I guess it shouldn't matter to you who our next coach is.

It will matter to me because I still want us to do well if we lose Rocco but my respect for the school and athletic administration will decrease dramatically.

Whatever happens, this too shall pass, and we will all have forgotten our pledges of alliance and/or threats to forebear in our support. "Sic transit gloria mundi."

Agree with this and I've tried putting all of it into perspective. If we were playing in W&M type facilities I could understand, but as mentioned before we have dumped a lot of money into athletics over the past 5 years (with more to come on this Elevate Campaign). If the worst happens we dust ourselves off, send Gill packing, and regroup. Yes, if Rocco leaves then Gill needs to pack his desk too. At that point it's up to Crutcher to get us back on track with good leadership.

I'd really like to see the president reach of to the kids on the team. They are very concerned and regardless of what's happens he should meet with the team to thank them for their efforts after the season and establish communication with them like he does with other student grouos. I think it would mean something to those kids

Mike is a good guy, a player's coach.

Did he give us a national title, or did we give him a national title? hmmmm.
Mike London did us dirty the way he ran up 64West and never looked back. If he did it once, he'll do it again. He had his chances here. Let's move on to someone else....IF NECESSARY. But I REALLY hope it won't be.

Oh, you're dead on. Let me be clear, in no way am I advocating for Mike's return if it gets to that...but I think Rocco comes back.

My prediction is Rocco comes back, and Gill is shown the door. Might not be tomorrow, or next week, but....
