Now that we have a little more information on the quality of our freshman what is your forecast for Longwood Game? I think we will win by 15 points. We will have the same 5 starters. Minutes by player will be:
Golden,Grant 31
Sherod,Nick 33

Gilyard,Jacob
37
Wojcik,Jake 28
Cayo,Nathan 28
Gustavson,Andre 15

Koureissi,Souleymane
12
Grace,Matt 9

Johnson,Julius
7

I thought Schneider,Bryce played well against HS and he potentially could get minutes especially if we have a large lead. Also, do not know status of Noah Yates.

Mooney in his post game press conference yesterday said that Yates was out more for precautionary reasons and should be available for opening night.

Good, I was surprised he was out. I thought he had healed.

I want to see Sherod get going early! Also, can Golden and Cayo dominate in the paint. I want to see us outrebound Longwood by 10 to 15. I hope Richmond wins by a large margin, but I will take any win after last year’s debacle. Can’t get in a hole early!

Longwood predicted to be really bad. Will lead by 20+ but win easily by double figures.

If we have to play Gilyard 37 minutes against Longwood, that will not be a good sign. Longwood is the varsity version of HSC, as Hanca said we should probably win by around 20. Lots of minutes will be available for the freshman if that is the case.

Not quite 20, 83-65 ;)

Those who want Mooney "shown the door" need to hope for a losing season. Otherwise we are probably looking at a multi year extention.

FYI it appears the preseason prediction for this game is
Our 97th O vs their 316th D
Their 334th O vs our 141st D

Need more Oddo minutes against Longwood!

No way JJ plays only 7 minutes. He played more on better teams.
It is unfair to mention that someone should get more minutes without also pointing out who in the beginning of the post those minutes could come from.

I believe we got a good preview of the Longwood game last Saturday, but only if the effort level continues.

If so, I see Woj getting most of the back-up PG minutes, and if all goes well, we should only need to play our starters 25-30 minutes each. It all will depend on our effort defensively, and how many good screens we set to get open 3-s. However, I would like to see our 2nd-team guys get 12-15-minutes each and it would be ideal to get Noah, Thomas, Bryce, Oddo, Jordan and Sullivan 2-5 minutes each. That is the ideal scenario, and our starters will need to play hard for it to play out this way, but it could happen.

14 guys? I think that’s only likely to happen if we’re really dropping fuel on whoever we’re playing against.

Based on people comments on how bad Longwood is, I am going to adjust my forecast for minutes by reducing some of the times of the starters. I am very excited about how the season is starting off. The weak schedule is allowing the freshman to get a lot of minutes and build confidence. The death spiral of freshman is few minutes, being pulled if they make a mistake, repeat and eventually transfer.

Don’t think Longwood is HSC. They have size and experienced guards. Most importantly, a new coach from UMBC who has emphasized conditioning and defense. I don’t think this will be anything near a 46-point margin.

Does anyone know about the tv/streaming options to watch this game for us out of state fans? Is this the year I have to buy spidertv?

A lot of home games will be on ESPN+ this year. I got the $4.99 monthly plan to watch November - March which will come out to ~ $25

I think it's totally worth it. This was about the same price as SpiderTV for only 3 or 4 months last year. Plus you can watch all other A10 games. There are also other things you can watch on ESPN+ like soccer games, hockey games, etc. but even for us Spider/A10 fans only, the deal is still pretty good.

In addition to watching on the computer, ESPN+ has a much better platform to watch games on your phone through the ESPN app then trying to watch SpiderTV on your phone. If you have chromecast you can also stream the game easily from your phone to the TV.

Is Longwood really any worse than what we thought Delaware would be last year? Obviously we'll be healthy favorites, but Longwood money line could have some great value.

There seems to be some debate on here about who will back-up Jacob/Gilly at PG for us.

There are clearly three candidates, and they include Woj, Oddo and and Dre (Andre). If Woj and Dre are on the court together, which I would expect to see for 5-10 minutes, it may be hard to tell who is playing the point or whether it is being"shared." if Odd is in, then he will likely be the PG.
If I had to bet it would be that Woj will get most of the back-up PG minutes this season (shifting over from 2-G), and that Dre will get most of his minutes at the 2 (and maybe a few at the 3). It may take a few games for us to get a definitive answer on who our back-up PG will be, but I would not trust the RTD to provide the answer.

Like $4.99 a month for shit that used to be free.
I don't know where you were getting free games, but I wasn't. Almost every school is using ESPN+ now. I can watch pretty much any game I want for $4.99 per month. Sounds great to me.
