Andre Wesson - 2016 Offer

It's spring break...or were you talking about visiting if he were to go there?

Official visits are paid for by the program (transportation, lodging, etc). Unofficial visits are paid for by the recruit. I believe each program is limited in the number of official visits they can have per year, but there is no limit on unofficial visits.

Thought I saw that OSU has a player entering the NBA draft early. With the new rules he can do that without an agent and then withdraw and return to school. So that could take awhile to sort out.

Not sure about visits per school, but thought each player was limited to 5 official visits.

was Andre's visit here an official? wonder why he'd be going to Butler on an unofficial unless he's already used his 5.

Yes, UR visit was official. He can just drive to Butler in 3 hours so no need for an official visit. OSC

yeah, if Golden is really 6'10" then he's certainly a 5. but with his skills resembling TJ's, we can play them together too. both very versatile. either can step out, either can post up.

I think Wesson is a stretch 4 for us but also think GG can go 4/5. He will almost certainly go 5 for us after TJ graduates, unless Paul materializes. That would of course be a good problem to have.

know what you're saying but don't agree with the terminology. I think of a stretch 4 as a big forward who spends most of his time outside. like Marshall Wood or even moreso Patrick O'Malley. Wesson's more of a true 3. a perfect 3. he'd be a perimeter forward. you can play him with another perimeter forward and we could call him a 3 or a 4 if we like. but he's just a forward. like Greg Stevenson. didn't matter if we called Greg a 3 or a 4. he was a forward.

A stretch 4 is typically a PF that can hit the corners and shoot the three but also play down low. You could argue that all of our 4s are supposed to be stretch 4s. Marshall has no inside game and in my view isn't a 4 or stretch 4, he's a 3, at least on O.

Of note, I completely agree that Wesson is a 3. I just think there's an expectation he will play 4 for us, probably because we don't have an identifiable option there and he's slightly taller than sherod.

The Butler offer doesn't really factor in here much, IMO. His playing time there would not be significantly different from OSU. Butler was better than OSU this year and likely will be better next year. If he's going to stay in the state of Ohio, he's going to Ohio State to play with his brother. If not, he's going to come here.

Not surprisingly, an OSU freshman guard (former 4 star recruit) announced he is transferring. So OSU now has two open spots. But that also means it has room for another guy who could take PT from Wesson.

Come On Wesson , take the path less traveled!! It's easy to sit on the bench, but it's more fun to a Star!!

There are at least three, probably more, players transferring out of Ohio State this year. Could mean more playing time for Wesson if he goes there, could mean Thad is retiring.

ton of transfer news. now I understand why someone like Wesson can wait. plenty of April opportunities. hard part is finding the right one.

Sidebar: It's comical how many views and responses this thread now has. Dude should come here based on that alone.

Is that Grandstaff (now at Oklahoma), Giddens, Mitchell, or Harris?

I was hesitant to bring it up, but this thread needs more posts. I saw Andrew White working out in the Robins Center this past Saturday afternoon.

I was posting about Mitchell.

Harris is a tiny guard in the mold of K0. Maybe we should go after him! Giddens is 6-10 and wants to be closer to his home in Georgia. Richmond is closer to Georgia than Ohio, last I checked!

This is playing out the way we expected. I figured that when OSU offered Andre, it was because there were some transfers coming. Their fans already were not thrilled with the class coming in next year. This mass exodus should raise some eyebrows.

When we sign Andre Wesson and get Andrew White as a grad transfer on the same day, this site will self-combust.
