2019 Opponent Thread

Just because those games are in the same Quad doesn't mean they're "supposed to do" anything of the sort.
Some Quads are more equal than others?;)

Actually my black and white with no gray, simple math based world is showing...

VCU's best win of the year just lost to NET 170, who we happened to beat. Glorious.

Eh. their much better Net & 19 pt beat down head to head still trumps it. Don’t get me wrong I don’t like vcu but 9 years of rooting against is tiring. If only we could do something about it.

Sometimes. So far they’ve choked away 1 win without him & nearly a 2nd today. Hope so but too early to tell.

& now Wisco 1-2 after blowout loss.

Not a good day if we end up getting to bubble. Only Georgetown losing was helpful the rest all seemed to win. Tho I agree Duq beating SLU in league play was definitely the better result.

And Vandy off the Schneid!

Maybe if we had leadership who cared about that.

Charleston 68 W&M 50. Charleston all alone in 1st in the CAA. Would be nice if they win their tourney and get the bid. The committee sometimes mentions how many other tourney teams you beat when on the bubble.

St. Francis wins one in the last seconds against Sacred Heart, the team they brawled with last month. No fighting in this one, though.

The St Bonny game concerns me. They took out Duquesne today. Help to us, obviously.

Mark Schmidt should be in the running for coach of the year in A10 almost every year with what he does for a program in the middle of nowhere.

Amazing that Bona is where they are, but yeah, not surprising because Schmidt is ridiculous.

Opponent Tracker 2/10/2020:
UNC Asheville vs Hampton
Radford
vs Winthrop
That Radford game is huge for them. They are already 2.5 games back of Withrop with a home loss to the Eagles.
Someone on this board said Radford would finish in the Top 100 NET if they went 15-3 in the Big South. They could still win 15 games if they lose tonight, but that's a loooooong climb from #179 when you're only beating teams ranked #250 or worse.

Is Bart Torvik on this board? ;)
Back at the end of the OOC I was looking at his predictions and he had them finishing 15-3 and 99 NET. I was surprised, so I posted it here.
Personally, at the time I thought 15-3 would get them to 128.
It appears he now says a loss to Winthrop and then winning out gets them 15-3 and...143 NET...

Rhody lost to Brown, who is like sub-220. If we win out, there's a good chance we are no worse than tired with Rhody, which brings that game back into play. Just saying. (I also don't expect us to win out.)

I don't think people are giving enough credit to our Rhody win. They were the first team left out of the top 25 today, receiving 57 AP votes. They are comfortably in the tournament at this point, and if they somehow win at Dayton Tuesday they will be top 20. And we beat them on the ROAD. I think we root for them to do well the rest of the year, and focus on beating VCU and getting the 3 seed (which is so important if we can avoid Dayton until A-10 final, potentially.

Agree 100%. We want Rhode Island to beat Dayton. Let's get two A -10 teams ranked, which would make it look really good for us since we beat one of them. Also, getting two teams ranked would maybe make it easier to get a third or fourth team in there because it makes the conference look that much better. Third-place would be great. Let's beat VCU, and win enough to finish third.

Rhode Island and Wisconsin are very good wins.
You are correct; the 3 seed is important for a lot of reasons. We currently sit T-4 with VCU, so that means we're 5th seed at present.
Go 2-0 this week.

Radford is up 20 early 2nd half.

Guess they didn't offer $5 tickets, offer faculty/staff gobs of free tickets, or bribe kids to come on in.
Agreed. Based on the snapshots, they only would have needed a couple hundred to fill the joint. That’s an easy papa johns promo away from a full house.
