2019 Opponent Thread

Gkiller, I still believe it was our greatest non conference schedule ever. That is the word out of Iowa anyway.

23 we know nobody complains in Iowa. Even if the John Deere is closed.

Sac up time for Mooney. I want him to get the mojo back. I guess it was the lifetime contract but I think there are 4 clear examples of lost toughness.

1. The mouth cupping. Gave in to the old westhampton ladies and their grandkids on that one. When he's cupping the mouth & dropping the f bombs u just knew he was into it.
2. Cumulative effect of 6-18 vs. VCU. There's acceptance which has seeped into our fanbase who will justify the 6-18 for him.
3. Losing out to the night school dean on Malcom Bernard when mooney had the power as the highest paid employee at UR. Inexplicable really.
4. Backing off the toughest OOC in A10 b/c Jabba the Hardt and freaking joe lunardi said they know better. News flash they don't.

Sac up Mooney. Dayton and VCU back to back. He's close, I can feel it. May even get some mouth cupping on the bench this weekend.

I think you're the only one on this board who was "expecting" NCAA. we lost 20 games last year. preseason I think the total wins consensus on this board ranged between 14 and 19 ... 14 being ridiculously low. maybe a few had 20.

expectations are up now but a lot depends on these next 2 games. we probably shouldn't beat Dayton but we've beaten teams we shouldn't beat before.

Happy to carry the torch. And lesson learned...don't question GK.

Anyway Mooney and team were expecting NCAA. Mooney on record with that. The "we" referred to them. I was speaking programmatically.

Sac up time for Mooney....
1. The mouth cupping.....
.
Ah... To cup, or not to cup, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the cup...Pray tell, GKiller, what form of cup dost thou useth? And where do you use said cup? How dost thou hold such cup in place?

I thought the F Bombs would come early next week, when no cupping was needed, because it would fit right in...

1. Because everyone wants a coach who throws out f-bombs all over the place, right?

2. VCU has allowed kids in school that we don't. That's a fact. Not an excuse. Just a fact. But, it does not mean we cannot beat them, and I agree the 6-18 record should be a lot better.

3. Mooney does not have the final decision on who gets in and who doesn't.

4. Because when teams lose at Alabama and to Radford, it's a guarantee they should win all the tougher games they might schedule, right? Nevermind the fact that our out of conference schedule has put us in a great position to get an NCAA bid.

Why are you posting this now? We are 15 - 4 with a pretty big game tomorrow night.

Huge game and I've posted plenty about it. Get the sac back Mooney that's all. I'm an NCAA guy not a 10% guy.

Gkiller on fire. I like the fire kid. Love how apologist #1 came to the pillow fight with some weak arguments as usual. VT to UR.

3.A. And he had mister billionare PQ on his side. You can't get him in. That is 99% on 2/3 of the Triumvirate. UNBELIEVABLE. And I love how weak a$$ 4700 is quoting quotes with "23" in them, LOL.
SAC UP and beat Dayton and VCU and get your mojo back. We think alike. Went to see us play at Fordham with KA and Gonzo. Went to take a pi$$ in the downstairs bathroom at halftime after a mediocre half. Almost bumped into moon man on the way out after 1/2 time. He had steam coming out of his ears, and the team responded. And then he was neutered. FMM

Only one opponent game last night - Wisconsin falls to Iowa by 6.
Line opened at 5.5, moved to 6.5, and closed at 6. Those guys in the desert are pretty good.

I feel like they have to be fudging their numbers to keep this streak of "sellouts" alive. I have been checking for most of their games this year, and there are ALWAYS tickets left on the day of the game. If they can't sell out THIS game by the day before, there's no way I believe they were selling out some of those garbage OOC games they played earlier.

Richmond opponents in action 1/28: (opponents in bold)
Rhode Island 14-5 (6-1 A-10) @ George Mason 13-7 (2-5 A-10)
Auburn 17-2 (4-2 SEC) @ Ole Miss 10-9 (1-5 SEC)

Mason winning tonight would help for a couple reasons. Obviously we want to get ahead of Rhody, but since we play Mason twice, we'd like them to move up as high as they can in the NET.

Agreed. They're currently 168 in NET. We can assume Rhode Island will stay relatively high in the rankings as well.

Wisco was up 12 pretty late before giving up a 19-2 run. Also played w/o 2nd leading scorer who may be leaving the team. These guys r going to fall to the bubble when all is said and done imo. Unfortunately we'd rather have them as high as possible to be a marquee win. At least if we're on bubble and they are too we have that head to head win.

Agreed. The parking there is almost as bad as ours. Who wants to be walking several blocks in the city at night. Scary.

I don't think a loss to GM, even away, will be very good for their rankings. I'd still rather they lose so we can move to T-2 with a win, and the H2H tiebreaker.

Yeah, I went to bed thinking Wisconsin had that one in the bag. That would have been a great win for them, and good for us, too.
They've lost 3 of 4 and have Michigan State next. The Big 10 is just relentless.

Hopefully they can get enough to stay top 50. Northwestern, Nebraska, a Minnesota split, Ohio St at home, maybe a slumping Michigan?

The top of the SEC is ok but have you seen a worse 14-0 P5 team than Auburn?

Since I made the above statement Auburn has gone 3-2, on their way to 3-3 as they are getting blown out by Ole Miss who is currently 10-9 and 1-5 in the SEC. Down 37-20 at the half. They played such a soft non-conference schedule and we're lucky to not lose a few games. It is finally catching up to them.

Auburn won that game btw. Tho I agree I felt they were overrated myself too. What’s too bad is besides a couple results things went great tonight in bubble comp. major opportunity lost for us. Real good for vcu again tho. Hey what else is new.
