Trusler FCS Punter of the Year Semifinalist

I'm generally not a fan of rugby-style punting, but he's done a solid job for us.

Deja Vu - Our 5 losses so far in '22-23

Other than Toledo, each loss at a macro level feels like a repeat of the others. I have 3 more games coming up that I will see in person including Clemson before missing the Bucknell game ... need this script to be re-written or this season will be one of the most painful ones.

W&M: - 4:22 2nd half- Spiders leading Bill and Mary 55-49 (had been down 38-19 at 1:09 left 1st half)
Toledo - 15:57 2nd half - Spiders down 54-36, charge back to be down 6 at 51-57 by 10:45, collapse and lose by 23
Syracuse - 8:10 2nd half - Spiders leading Cuse 56-52 (had been down 16-5 at 12:28 1st half)
Wich state 8:31 2nd half - Spiders leading Wichita State 45-40 (had been down 28-17 at 0:45 sec left 1st half)
CoC - 0:32 in 2nd half- Spiders leading CoC 81-78 (had been down by 19 at 18:35 mark)
1:58 in OT - Spiders leading CoC 88-83

2022 Richmond Spiders Football - Prologue - Sacramento State

it's really fun to have Playoff football again in December...thinking back this week on all the great Spiders Playoff wins in December has brought back many fond memories...

Richmond has had a way of rising to the occasion multiple times in this round...it wouldn't surprise me to see this team join their predecessors on Saturday...

I expect the Spiders to play their best game...the pressure will be on the undefeated and Playoff winless Hornets...I hope our best game will be enough to bring home another FCS shocker!

enjoy the Prologue!

it's time to play!

Go Spiders!

AIDAN NOYES

Since Mooney specifically signaled Noyes out recently. I thought he deserved his own tread. Below is his high school bio, which is very impressive. 47% from 3s. He might have a much bigger role than most on here expected.

• Attended Archbishop Moeller, the same high school as current Richmond football coach Russ Huesman as well as Baseball Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr. and Barry Larkin
• Second Team Greater Catholic League South selection in 2021
• Averaged 12 points and 4.5 rebounds as a senior while shooting 47 percent from three-point range and 55 percent from the field
• Led team to 20-5 record and appearance in Division I state quarterfinals in 2021
• Key reserve as junior in 2020, when Moeller finished 26-1 and reached state quarterfinals before season was canceled due to COVID-19
• Received more than 15 Division I scholarship offers, including UR’s A-10 rival VCU
• Committed to Richmond in October 2020
• No. 5 recruit in Ohio, No. 186 recruit nationally in Class of 2021 by 247Sports.com

Someone had to say it

So I've had this thought about Richmond's season last year for a while. I honestly think it would be better for our program not to have won the a10 tourney and lost to Rhody in the first round. Now that's a bold statement, but hear me out, that run guaranteed Chris more years as coach. Its time to tell the board the truth about Mooney, he's a great guy, but a terrible coach. He's terrible at adjustments, look at our last 3 games, choke jobs because he can't coach a young team. We've also seen many more Mooney choke jobs in the past years. We got 10 more years of this BS and its because of one fluke run. It will hurt the program in the long run just like it did from 2011-2022. Why are we settling for a "NCAA tourney appearance every 10 years"? Makes no sense to me, this a good, respectable program, but since Mooney's 2011 NCAA run we've been mediocre and getting outplayed for our rivals.

Holy Toledo ! - 11/30 Game Thread ...

Before we broke our losing streak, I have to admit I was reconsidering the sanity of my mid week trip from the RVA to Toledo via DTW next Wednesday but back to being all in to see our team get back over .500. Toledo will actually be the team that now needs to turn things around after their bad losses to Kansas City and East Carolina. Go Spiders.

Happy Thankgiving week to all.

Go Figure - Frustration associated with playing VCU

https://nypost.com/2022/12/01/vanderbilt-coach-jerry-stackhouse-restrained-during-ejection/

Over the top but.................remind you of any games we have had against them when Stackhouse talks about disparaties in number of fouls called and VCU gesturing and talking compared to his team? Stackhouse definitely acted in "bad form".... Rhodes has cleaned up the act compared to his two predecessors...................
