The Pharisee on the 50

Matthew 6

5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

I guess the 6 RCs on the SCT decided to go low church undisciplined fundie Protestant for their political decision and collectively decided to ignore the teachings of SJohn of the Cross and Pere Grou.

Team Chemistry in the era of the Transfer Portal

This team is loaded with a lot of talent. It might be one of the most talented teams we have had. We have gotten good, but not great, players via the portal.

Early on, our guys looked like they were trying to play a one on one game, instead of a team game. We had guys trying to win individual match-ups, instead of working as a team. Our teams over the last two or three years were very willing to pass to the open man or throw to the guy with the hot hand. It seems that the Drake game was the first time the team really played together. How much of this chemistry was a result of the return of Matt Grace?

The Great One, Dick Tarrant, always preached the importance of team chemistry. Strong team chemistry was the way mid-major teams overcame the talent of the top programs.

In this era of immediate play and the transfer portal, one may conclude that the coach that gets his team to jell the soonest will have the greatest success. Thoughts?

Trusler FCS Punter of the Year Semifinalist

I'm generally not a fan of rugby-style punting, but he's done a solid job for us.

Deja Vu - Our 5 losses so far in '22-23

Other than Toledo, each loss at a macro level feels like a repeat of the others. I have 3 more games coming up that I will see in person including Clemson before missing the Bucknell game ... need this script to be re-written or this season will be one of the most painful ones.

W&M: - 4:22 2nd half- Spiders leading Bill and Mary 55-49 (had been down 38-19 at 1:09 left 1st half)
Toledo - 15:57 2nd half - Spiders down 54-36, charge back to be down 6 at 51-57 by 10:45, collapse and lose by 23
Syracuse - 8:10 2nd half - Spiders leading Cuse 56-52 (had been down 16-5 at 12:28 1st half)

2022 Richmond Spiders Football - Prologue - Sacramento State

it's really fun to have Playoff football again in December...thinking back this week on all the great Spiders Playoff wins in December has brought back many fond memories...

Richmond has had a way of rising to the occasion multiple times in this round...it wouldn't surprise me to see this team join their predecessors on Saturday...

I expect the Spiders to play their best game...the pressure will be on the undefeated and Playoff winless Hornets...I hope our best game will be enough to bring home another FCS shocker!

enjoy the Prologue!

it's time to play!

Go Spiders!
