VCU PART 3

You always find something negative to say.
And you always pick out something negative in every post. Guess you missed the "great effort, great win" part.

Maybe my whining comment is striking a little close to home, Greg. Why don't you just enjoy this wonderful win instead of all your negative comments about other posters? Humm?

he should be happy, his man-love Moonie is going to be around for the rest of his life.

Everything worked tonight as planned. Good to see the team put in 40 minutes of consistent effort. CM played Grace more I think and he is a much better defender than GG.
Shocked VCU did not attack the offensive glass. They ran back after the first shot as if they had Spiders on their jerseys. Rhoades missed this one imo. I guess he wanted to stop us from running.

It's OK to say that Chris Mooney outcoached Mike Rhoads tonight.

Grace is better than Grant right now, I'll say it. For what we need right now, I'd rather see him get more minutes the rest of the way.

Rhoads fell asleep on the offensive board advantage every team knows about, thats for sure.
Not sure CM did anything different. You may think he concocted some amazing game plan we have never seen before and id love to hear it. I think this team just sometimes decides they want to play hard and they put in the effort and play with confidence. Tomorrow might be a different story. I hope not.

I agree. When we execute, it makes all the difference in the world. Think back to the home win vs St Bon where we had 2 good halves of execution. Tonight was that kind of game. On the other hand, last night vs RI was slop. We have so little room for error due to the fundamentals lacking in Mooney’s choices. Tonight the guys executed, and the results were rewarded.

We don’t have anybody who can create their own shot against VCU. And anytime someone beats their man they’re terrified to drive so they back it back out. Maddening to watch

They really proved me wrong, what a turnaround and hell of a win. I don’t remember the last time I was that fired up for a win, not since I graduated 6 years ago. That one is really up there

I don’t ever remember us taking it VCU like that. Even when we’ve won it has always been with finesse, but we were banging bodies and beating them inside. In the second half Cayo was dropping them like flies. I didn’t think we would ever out physical VCU

Sadly to say I fell asleep with about 12 minutes to go. My wife actually stayed up to watch. Good win. It seemed like the VCU crowd wasn’t there in full force but it was enough to send a bunch of people home disappointed. Bet you can find cheap tix for todays game from a VCU fan if you want to battle the weather and go up there today.

The solution- place yourself on ignore.

You can do that? Wouldn't it be nice if there was an ignore button for life, there's a bunch of times that I would love to put myself on ignore. My wife was gone for six weeks helping our daughter with our latest grandson and all I did was talk to myself.... I wouldn't shut up.

Now where's that bottle of Tylenol?

Last night was great. Most fun I've had since the pandemic started and I was only watching on tv.

Only two small complaints/concerns.
It got a little too close for comfort towards the end (like many other of our games).

I would have liked to see Bailey get some minutes.

Feels like Mooney has a set (tight) rotation at this point. I wouldn’t expect anyone except the starters, Grace, Sherrod, Wilson (sparingly), and Crabtree (sparingly).

That was such a terrific win that I "threatened" both of my daughters that I was coming over to their house after the game to celebrate. One lives a block away and the other 70 miles away. Neither one of them could believe I was still awake but It felt so good to win the one game out of the three against VCU that counted the most this season. Free throw shooting was terrific, refs made the calls, and how about Nathan Cayo on the free throw line? As I told my wife the more the announcers trash talked his free throw shooting style the more free throws he would make. Worked almost to perfection with only one free throw miss!
