Transfer season

I drink those little 2 once shooters. 3 pint shooter would be tough. :).
I knew a basketball player when I was in school that could load up 6 beers in a beer bong and choke them down. That would be just about a double "3 pint shooter" but they were 12 ounce beers. Maybe it was just three beers, between the fuzziness at the time and the elapse of time it is hard to remember.

Looks like vcu is about to be stacked big time. They are getting a couple really good transfers. Good God it's frustrating to see them constantly reload.

I don't think they've gotten anyone yet. The Rice PG is down to them, Arizona and Miami. Tough to ignore Arizona, I would think. Besides, he has to sit a year anyway. They're being mentioned with Khris Lane from Longwood, but he also has to sit a year.

Khris Lane is eligible immediately, he already graduated from Longwood. He would be a huge upgrade to their front court. It's also unbelievable to me that we aren't pursuing him.

My bad then. Still, he'd only have a year at VCU. And he seems like a good player, but it's not like he was putting up 20 points a night at Longwood. He won't solve their lack of height, either, since he's 6'6"

From what I see they lose most of their talent from last year except Tillman (and to a lesser extent Samir, Jenkins is still an unknown) and have lost their top 3 incoming recruits. They don't have any shooters, they will be pretty one-dimensional on offense next year. The grad transfer from Longwood isn't going to make up for that. I would certainly not call them stacked, wouldn't be surprised if they finished around .500 in A10 play next year. I might be tempted to pick SLU to finish ahead of them.

VCU lost their top 3 recruits, including two Top 100 guys during the coaching transition, so they had better be hot and heavy on the transfer circuit right now. When Wade came in he faced a similar situation with decommits but he did a great job going out and getting a couple uncommitted high schoolers and got Hamdy and Billbury in the Juco and grand transfer markets respectively.

It will be interesting to see what Rhoades is able to do given the similar situation. If he is able to pull off a Wade type of recruiting job, then I think we can say they are reloading again. If not, a situation like Fan 11 describes is possible.

Who knows what will happen with recruiting over the next 2 months for VCU, but I'd like my chances right now against pretty much anyone in the A-10 (except for maybe Rhody) if we lined up 6'4" Doughty, 6'4" Crowfield, 6'5" Jenkins, 6'6" Vann, and 6'7" Tillman together and for big minutes. Small ball.........but versatile and potentially quite potent.

Not a bad lineup, but we'll be starting three guys who are 6'7" or taller.

Frightening!

that will endear Wade even more with the VCU crowd. safe bet LSU doesn't honor the deal to come play here. they'll buy out. I'm sure VCU would rather get the game, but the check isn't bad.

Given the venom around his departure, this would be a wise investment for LSU to make. Is a home and home with LSU even a good get at this point?

There was a bit of sarcasm in my question but LSU was 10-21 with an RPI of 194 last year. Not exactly a resume building win. Plus, despite this awful record, you have to assume that LSU as an SEC school has some talent and can pull off a good game or two and thus hand you a bad loss.

They couldn't make the NCAA tournament with the #1 overall NBA draft pick two years ago. Thy didn't even play in the NIT. That program has some serious problems, will be interesting to see if Wade can turn it around.

We just need to recruit a few payers with ability who are taller than 6'5.

Might we hear something from another grad transfer from Princeton soon?

He went to three high schools and three different colleges. Smells fishy
Well we better get over it. I have a lot of friends who went to Benedictine which is where Khris Lane was for a little while and they tell me that he was mistreated by the school and had a very hard time academically. To me he sounds a lot like mo allie cox. This is an opportunity to take a shot on someone and help make a true success story. He played at Longwood so he wants to win and we would be a great fit. Also he would only be here for one year so it's a high reward-low risk scenario. We should absolutely be trying to get this guy.

Vt, you are correct; he would be a great fit for Virginia Tech or vcu.

Why'd he get kicked out of Trinity? That takes talent

I know some of you are big on taking lesser academic athletes, but to me that's not us. there are plenty of schools that are a better fit for this kind of kid, unless there is pattern of improvement to make us believe he'd be an asset in school as well as on the court ... and there may be for all I know.
Mo is a great success story. VCU was the right place for him. I just don't know if that story would have played out at UR.

The only thing more frustrating than Mooney's predictable recruiting misses (hey, lets sign a guy with one other small mid-major offer to play at an A-10 school) is when admissions blocks one of his few successful ones. That tandem is the main reason why we haven't sniffed an NCAA in 6 years. Unfortunately, this pattern seems locked in place for the foreseeable future.
