Transfer season

Chicago State itself isn't going to be around much longer. They enrolled 86 freshmen last year and have a graduation rate of 11 percent.

I will say this kid is way more athletic than kwesi.
T, agree. Kwesi lacked leg strength, overall quickness and athleticism. Jordan is MUCH better. Hopefully he makes it by Admissions.

I mean come on - - he's a stud. Look at this . .he "posted a pair of 20-20 games versus Southwest Oregon Community College (28 points, 21 rebounds) and College of the Siskiyous (21 rebounds, 20 points)." No way a Kwesi gets 20 and 20 against the likes of College of the Siskiyous!

And he's been heavily sought after. In fact, Richmond will be his 4th college (after 2 different Community Colleges and Chicago State). Everybody is after this guy.

He's just been honing his game Philly...

Clever and funny.

3 points per game is triple what Kweisi averaged so if he is 3 times as good as Kweisi, I still don't want him on my pick up team. Hope he is a good singer, that way we can save some dough on a national anthem singer for a game or two.

If I were our coaches, and I thought there was any chance that Wesson might be re-opening his recruitment, I would be all over him. He is a "wing" who can clearly play inside, and can clearly rebound and play defense. He is a lot like Buck, except that he is probably two inches taller, and likely not nearly as hard-nosed.

However, for anyone to suggest that we could not have an excellent line-up (and a 20+ win season) with Wesson as one of 4 "guards," and with Grant Golden at center, is not in touch with reality. That might give us a stronger line-up than last season, and we were pretty good last season. Bottom line: If we could get a "yes" from Wesson, we would be in great shape for the next 3 years. Wesson could have a bigger impact than Hazen, in part because Hazen is a one year gig. Whether Wesson is serious about us, well that is an unknown at this point. Should we be talking to Wesson, and talking to him about his younger brother, and inviting one or both in? Absolutely!

All great ideas, except..

A- Having recruiting contact with current players of other schools that don't have a release is prohibited, and...
B- Kim Kong Un could be the coach of Ohio State and Ohio State would still be much more appealing to an Ohio kid than UR is.

Regarding JMA, we need a another big that can eat a few fouls, if nothing else. At a minimum, this will be an interesting test to see if the environment has changed with the admissions office

This is true. Pretty sure a degree from John Tyler CC is worth more than one from Chicago State. If we can get this kid in, it could be a whole new world for us recruiting wise. Is it too late to get Godwin back?

Have a feeling admissions will shut this one down quickly.

I'm hoping that we have gotten some alignment between athletics and admissions (not agreement, but at least alignment on what the process is) since last fall. Frankly, I don't think we should be offering kids until we've gotten a transcript through admissions. If we've brought Jordan to campus prior to admissions doing their due diligence, then I'm not so sure admissions should be blamed.

All that said, I have a good feeling on this one.

Watching his tape, if he can move and keep his man in front of him, I think he is an upgrade over Kwesi. We needed to add depth inside. Really have to hope that one or two out of this guy, Paul, Cayo, Ford can give us a combined 20 quality minutes per game and pray Grant and Solly stay healthy.

Randomly looked at Chicago State's schedule in 2015 and noted they lost to Marquette, a team in the Big East maybe better than most A10 teams. Jordan played 19 minutes, was 4-5 from the field for 8 points and had 5 rebounds (2 offensive). If we can get that kind of production from him, he will be a nice addition.

Yes, I had already looked at Christmas week 2015. Marquette & Oakland with nearly the same line.

Been over this. Most just call UR Richmond. Does it really matter?

This wasn't a teenage kid calling us Richmond University, this was an article published by a community college.

once on board they will learn quickly, not a problem from recruit, or their school

Eight, I feel like your dislike of our participation in the grad transfer game is really the "misalignment" we have discussed. Is the new guy "signed" or is he in the same boat as Bernard. If we get Bernard in last year, I think we are all pretty happy with the grad transfer gig. Same with all the recruits we may have "missed" over the years leading to inferior recruits sometimes.

The two players we have signed are awful.
This is interesting, it begs the question, if we didn't have Kwesi last year, what would we have done instead. Play Paul? I still don't think that would have been much worse, but apparently the coaches thought so...

Answering my own question, and alluded to by TBone Costanza, the downside is potentially less playing time for Paul and either AJ or Cayo. I think I'm in the camp that as we go into Paul's junior year, if he isn't beating out JMA for playing time, it isn't going to happen here and therefore not downside. On the other hand, I could be convinced that we are better off a year from now if we give that PT to one of the frosh. But it means punting this year, in a year when the A-10 is going to be there for the taking, outside of URI.

Kwasi playing and seeing what he brought only told me PF can't (ever?) compete. I don't believe this one and done ChiSt player is what the team needs at all.

Don't waste these minutes that could be spent on the youth coming aboard. I surely hope a few of them will show A10 potential this year so they can be up to speed at the start of 2018-19.
