Transfer news

Our plans for the all-legacy team have taken a hit. Newman to UNCG.

I’d love for us to be mentioned with anyone.
It's another thing that is so lame, no off-season buzz, very very few impact transfers. Wes Miller and UNC_G making an impact. He should have been our coach, taking us to the NCAAs 3 out of 5 years while waiting for his preferred ACC opening. Instead we have Squeally and Hardt sipping bourbon and smoking stoogies until Paul puts Jabba down for his nap. Good times. I actually have no connection to this hoops program anymore, but just enjoy the trolling.

I am sure the first order of business is shoring up as many of our players as possible to keep the foundation in place.

GW continuing to bring in P6 guys. Of course, they lost a bunch of guys to transfer too, but they weren't winning with those guys.

True except they could have won w Jamison Battle if they had other good players around him. He looked like a future 1st league player. I don’t think they’ll replace him w anyone equally but u do need multiple guys.

A-10 continuing to load up on P6 transfers...40% three-point shooter this year who averaged 9 ppg.

adding a player that is probably better than anyone on the roster == bad

ok, gotcha
lol. what roster? 9 guys are transferring.

I said it's a nice one year pickup. sorry if I don't agree that anything is paying dividends yet. maybe it will. he's got work to do. he needs a lot more bodies just to field a team.

Guys will always transfer when a new coach comes in. The ones Mason had weren't exactly lighting the world on fire anyway.

I hope we hear one way or the other soon on the seniors so transfer options know where they stand with playing time opportunities.
I trust we aren’t waiting on anyone for these conversations to take place. Current seniors should be on the clock to decide and be locked in yesterday.

Regardless, we should be conversing with anyone who profiles as a fit, the exact perfection of the fit can be determined once there’s clear interest.

Seems like the rest of fellas are really seeing what their options are in the portal.

I've got a feeling you guys are going to really disappointed with who we land as a transfer. I'd take Kolek and Oduro in a heartbeat.
I didn’t say I wouldn’t like either of those guys for us, but collectively it’s not like Mason is watching an a10 champion break up or anything. A new coach plays a different style and will recruit different guys. English may well bring in a bunch of good transfers who play better as a team than the guys who left.

no doubt. just saying it's early to praise him. he might be great. we'll see.

I guess after playing in the Pac-12 championship game and in two games of the NCAA tournament as a senior and making it to the NIT quarterfinals as a sophomore he wanted to get as far away from big-time basketball as possible.

You guys can't be looking at these good transfers, look at the shitty ones, you know the guys who barely play, average maybe 2-3 ppg, those are the guys the Mooney team is going to land. See who is leaving Chicago State or is the 8th man on an CAA squad, that is who is going to be coming here.

CM's track record with grad transfers blows, I agree, but he's actually done ok with undergrad transfers (albeit there have not been many). Given that the NCAA seems poised to allow the one-time transfer rule to go into effect at least for the 21-22 season, I think we stand a better chance than normal of getting some impact transfers.

At least, the conditions are ripe for it, it's really up to the staff to make it happen now.

Yes I too remember how TJ Cline, Blake Francis, and Marshall Wood were the 8th man on a CAA team or Chicago State. Such bums!

T.J Yates, JMA, Kweisi were also Mooney transfer additions. Marshall Wood didn't exactly light the world on fire when he came here either. T.J and Blake were good ones for sure, so Mooney has brought in 2 impactful grad transfers in 16 years. I'm not holding my breath, Mooney is gonna find us anything of value. His track record says he isn't.

I used to think that Spiders not being mentioned for transfers was just our program being private and behind the scenes, now I am pretty sure it is Mooney down at the Outer Banks reading his favorite novels.

60 YO SDSU coach was asked what now after getting knocked out of the tourney. His answer: watch about 16 hours of tape a day of guys in the portal they have interest in.
