We need a front court player, yet the only guy I see us really after is a guard for a team that already has 6 players who are already guards on this year's roster. If we were to land him, I'd have to think that possibly one of our other recruited players might look to transfer, espicially with Gilly back, that is a lot of minutes that are young players were looking for this next year and suddenly they are gone.I agree with Spider23. I don't really want to add another guard to the mix. We need length and size and frontcourt athleticism.
You already got half your wish.I would like our chances if Nick and Golden come back. I still have the feeling Blake was more of an outsider and won’t be back.
That was quick! 😊You already got half your wish.
Crabtree and Nick splitting time would help keep both fresh and healthy.I'm actually interested in what happens with Crabtree. I know it's been a long time, but I think he's really good. I believe he did play the 2 at Tulane. tough to see much time behind Burton at the 3.
I would be stunned if Mooney didn’t know who was and wasn’t coming back as of several days ago. The staff has hopefully been recruiting accordingly.I think there’s still some urgency to get a big but agree that we should be focused on a four year option rather than a transfer given Grants return.
agreed. I thought we'd be all over every 6'8"+ guy, but I think he knew we had Cayo and Golden coming back. they were just working on graphics for the intagram releases.I would be stunned if Mooney didn’t know who was and wasn’t coming back as of several days ago. Quick...say something else. That was quick! 😊
Urmite, no hard feelings, but if that worked I would be wishing for Christie Brinkley or Melania Trump. 😂Quick...say something else.
Like Garza, Butler, Mobley & Suggs to transfer in...
Assuming nobody leaves, we're up to 14 scholarship guys now. I wouldn't say no to a frosh big for developmental purposes, but otherwise I don't see us bringing anyone else new in at this point.
We could still be reaching out to 6'8 guys and pretty much anyone else, but it works both ways, and the transfer, especially a good big or PG with just one year left, also has to see a fit, and will usually be looking for a lot of playing time.agreed. the fact we reached out to Kolek and Healey might indicate that Blake and Nick aren't coming back.
That's a great point about the "internal" competition. It's seemed to be lacking for the past few years. Once the current #don'tcallthemthat senior/grad group took over the team, mostly as Freshmen, the pecking order has been established. Had Nick not been injured, there would certainly have been more of that - which is healthy for a successful team.G, that is not or never been the MO with Mooney. Bring in a top talent that might challenge a veterans minutes. WHOOOO, how would Mooney manage the team and minutes.
I remember Tarrant, man you had Shields and the jumper from NC about to kill each other for minutes. Both very good talents. Fleming and Blair battling for minutes. Etc Etc.
With Golden & Cayo back, I wouldn't necessarily be looking for someone 6'8" to 6'10" with one year left, but someone who has only used one year but wants to change. Just not sure how easy to find.We could still be reaching out to 6'8 guys and pretty much anyone else, but it works both ways, and the transfer, especially a good big or PG with just one year left, also has to see a fit, and will usually be looking for a lot of playing time.
yeah, I think the "immediately eligible" transfer rule and extra year for everyone hurts us badly here. in a normal year, a big kid is looking at how rosters will look like in 2022-23 and ours would be very attractive. With Golden & Cayo back, I wouldn't necessarily be looking for someone 6'8" to 6'10" with one year left, but someone who has only used one year but wants to change. Or to convince limited playing time this year, other years it would have been a redshirt.
Why didn't I think of that?????
To be fair, in recent memory we've only had one starter "lose" his starting job, and he transferred out.I don't buy the "unchallenged competition" talk. there's always internal competition.
but Grace and Sal didn't beat out Grant or Nate. Grant and Nate are good.
Burton would have had to fight for more time, but Nick got hurt.
Blake beat someone out when he became eligible 2 years ago. Dji and Isaiah were freshmen. they didn't beat Blake out.
Goose have been fighting for time. just not winning.
and nobody was beating out Gilyard.
Now that’s a college degree put to good use. Hawaii was a very smart choice.
you'd think Hawaii would have more hoops success. I know it's far, but come on. you should be able to recruit there.

Oh. good so we get Bacot?
Tech had a football transfer come in from uva. He was UVA’s starting long snapper and transferred to Tech, he is also a direct descendent of Thomas Jefferson. Pretty strange.Damn. UVA to UNC? I think you could have gotten arrested for that 30 years ago. Legit wonder if it's ever happened before?
He needed some basket weaving courses, not taught at UVA. LolTech had a football transfer come in from uva. He was UVA’s starting long snapper and transferred to Tech, he is also a direct descendent of Thomas Jefferson. Pretty strange.
UVA has plenty of basket weaving classes. They kept Ralph in school for 4 years. He needed some basket weaving courses, not taught at UVA. Lol
