Soooooooooo, I take it the billboard, the free meals at the coaches show, the foagies and VCU fans defending Mooney on channel 8, gave us some motivation for all of one day. Freaking pathetic. I hope those billboard guys change it to FIRE HARDT if Mooney is not gone 10 minutes after the season.

What's so annoying is that teams come back against us easily but rarely does this team ever overcome a 7+ point deficit. And it's not about youth. It's about coaching and what's called. If we have a double-digit lead, every team knows to ratchet up D with a full court press, and we'll collapse (even if we've played well up to that point). Just like Coach K did to Louisville - went to zone D and full court press. Once we were behind by 7, had to know they were in trouble. Why not go hard full court press and change D to try and get some easy baskets? Oh right . . . CM and his staff don't know how to rotate in 9-10 players consistently and keep fresh legs until the end. May not have made any difference tonight with their bad shooting, but what did they have to lose?
There was some build up from a previous call. I think the T may have come from "accumulation" of complaining.

Gene Steratore was one of the refs on the floor for that game, but it was another ref who T'd him up multiple times. The blonde UR police captain (now assistant chief) had to escort Mooney off the court. Those were the days when we actually thought Mooney was going to be something because he had an edge. That Mooney is long gone.

The refs f up major on the no walk call. Everyone in the building and on tv knew it. It’s a win Mooney knows he needed. Everything has to go perfect for him to get the win. I don’t blame him for going off!
What are you talking about? It was 29-24 after the dunk that led to the tech. VCU made 1 FT, and then it was our ball again. The half ended 34-24 so I guess you could say a 5-0 run, but hard to say the tech cost us anything more than 1 point. And, how can you not get mad when the guy left from the top of the key and scored without dribbling?
Why was this the worst time? They had just dunked it, and had the momentum. The tech cost us 1 point and then we had the ball again.
Mooney by far. Im not from Richmond though and though my kid competed against vcu and hated them, I have to say that i respect their bball program. They take winning very very seriously. Would never put up with the shit UR puts up with. The moon dog would have been canned 3 years ago.
UR hanged tough but counts for little since VCU stands at 23-6 and Mooney's team at 12-17. Let a new coach try his hand at it next year.
I used to hate VCU basketball with a passion. In the last 8 years I have gone from 100 hate VCU, 0 hate Mooney, to a total flip flop, 100 disdain for Mooney, 0 hate on VCU. I know this is impossible for the locals, but from afar VCU has a great program. Unless they uncover some Slick Willy Wade stuff, which I would be all for. He's definitely dirty.

Lots of subpar officiating it seems these days in the A10? Well as subpar as the A10 has been the last few years, only seems appropriate. Hopefully the A10 can somewhat get back to previous years level, but I'm not feeling confident it will happen. Lots of youth in the league this year, so hopefully teams do better in OOC play next year.
Agreed. I couldn't stand VCU a few years ago, I wanted them to lose so badly. I still like when they lose but that passion is gone because I have respect for what the program has become. And Rhoades seem like a good guy. Funny, he is also a good guy and he wins. Amazing how those are not mutually exclusive characteristics as many Mooney supporters contend.
