Fordham down 26 at the half to La Salle. This HAS to be Neubauer's last year, right?

Kentucky poised to fall to 1–7...down 9 to Miss St with 11 to play

Calipari got himself ejected and UK immediately went on a 10–0 run to take the lead.

I think Neubauer is the most tenured coach in A10 following McKillop, moon and Schmidt. Hey he has all the same issues as Mooney...lack of admin support, good academic school, etc. Must have a Queally in his back pocket too.

Kentucky has to get to top 75 to be a Q1 win, right? I still think they are likely to get to that point given how NET rankings seem to heavily favor P5 teams regardless of record. Maybe that won’t be enough to get them into the tourney, and the win won’t have the luster of previous years, but would still be huge if it was Q1.

There was general concern around the country about sending the guys home for Christmas, but VCU kept their guys on campus while ours went home. I haven't seen any data on whether programs that sent their guys home have had more issues since returning, but obviously that's not the case here.
Think some of their kids opted to go home

GW with the win over Duquesne and the Hawks take Rhody to OT without Daly. Going to be some unexpected outcomes this year.

UNI lost to Evansville again today. Evansville was picked to finish last in the MVC, and the poll wasn't close.

I had noticed that Evansville was picked last. It seems that the seasons our OOC looks strong to start the year, it goes down, and years we are complaining due to how weak it is, it ends up being much better. We need to start piling up W's in conference.

Also not our competition (directly), although we will be competing with them for an at-large bid:

Drake. They are undefeated and have won every game but one by double digits. They haven't played anyone great, but their schedule isn't total garbage either. They appear to be on a mission to win the MVC, and they might wind up one of those teams we are rooting for in their conference tournament to take the AQ.

They are also 10-0 against the spread, covering by an average of double digits. Vegas keeps widening their spread, and the Bulldogs keep right on bulldoggin'.

Watching SDSU, hideous loss to Colorado State two days ago, Blowing a 26 point lead , worst in MW conference history. Ever. Playing again tonight, up 26 at half, not losing this one. Entire team, coaching staff, bench, managers invested and energized on every single defensive possession. LOVE the passion. Wish Mooney had that. Instead we praise him for wearing sweater vests and being a non jerk. We need new leadership, or at least Charlotte melt down, non castrated Mooney. Instead we have Noah and Spidersportshub Twitter and Bob Black praising every little victory we come by. Weak sauce, weak sauce.

I’d have to search to find it but I believe that Fordham announced last year that it wanted to term Neubauer but didn’t have enough money to do so would let him finish out his contract this year. No resources up there.

I don’t recall Fordham publicly announcing anything, but yeah, they’re in shambles up there. He got defaulted into finishing out the last year of his contract...AD retired at end of last year, and partly thanks to COVID they don’t have a new one hired yet. So they’re just letting him hang on one more questionable year while they get leadership lined up to be able to make a decision on a new coach.

Knew I could find something - realize not officially from Fordham.

There’s another article the same day talking about candidates for the job. https://www.cardiachill.com/2020/4/...-neubauer-rams-capel-panthers-atlantic-10-acc

There’s more out there is anyone really cares to look but bottom line is that $500k buyout was too much for Fordham (which apparently is his annual salary).

Got up 26 very early, probably shooting about 80 percent from 3. CsU went on a 19-0 run to cut lead to single digits goiing into half. Well coached team, would have been a good match up for us if the A10-MW challenge did not get nuked.

crazy. you'd think that couldn't/shouldn't happen. guess sometimes it does and there's not always an answer to stop it. .

The difference is, SDSU has had two bad losses, other one being BYU - but in both games they came out playing defense like crazy - huge effort. Dutcher did get criticized for a few decisions on the SDSU board LOL. One that I noticed too. He put the ball in hands of PG that doesn't shoot FT's super, when he has a 95% FT shooter in the game. Dutcher does play more bench early and just keeps defensive man to man pressure on all game. What is crazy is that SDSU PG's are not very good - they have a good freshman - who shows flashes, but not quite there. Yet Dutcher makes adjustments from game to game, and saw interview with some of the team recently and all talked about DEFENSE and REBOUNDING being emphasized every day in the program. Mooney talks about it when it is brought up how bad we are getting beat on the boards, just soft.
And it is not mutually exclusive - playing tough defense and rebounding. You can do both and play some offense. Spiders offense is a little prettier than SDSU, but at least like watching a team play all facets, instead of freaking hardt having to discuss trying a new D with mooney. Joke.

Big game tonight...Vandy at UK in a matchup of the two lowest-rated teams in the SEC.

WVU survives OK State - man the Big 12 is tough. Would like for them to maintain a high ranking despite their personnel issues.

That was a pretty crazy game...WVU was down 19 with just over 11 minutes to play, and they erased the deficit in just 8 minutes. Culver was a beast...one board short of a double-20 game.

something wasn't working for a solid team to give up a 19-0 run. turnovers? rebounding?

I'm watching the end of the Holy Cross @ BU game on ESPN+.
BU mandates everyone on campus wear masks, including sports.
But they didn't detail HOW you have to wear them.
HC is wearing them across their chins, not covering mouth or nose.

I know nothing about Tshiebwe’s academics, but that’s a dumb blanket statement.
Pretty sure I have read on this forum numerous times how we are limited in recruiting by our academics. He is probably more of a fit for Broad Street, but either way he is too good for the A10.
