South Alabama game

All about wins and losses, but I think this board has set a record for conspiracy theories. Laughable.
This board = Roswell, New Mexico & Bigfoot sightings as well as wait until next year for the turning point.;)?

Many of us here were fans during the Tarrant and Beilein eras when we had a very successful program, NCAA and NIT bids more often than not. Neither coach made a million dollars a year, we didn't have chartered flights, no Robins Center reno, the general academic reputation of the school was not where it is today. As fans, many of us who remember those days are not satisfied with the current state of the program. Something needs to change, and the obvious, logical choice is the coach.

Whereas DT and JB set the bar high, we now have sandbagging, using words like "compete", "improving", and "inexperienced" to describe, excuse, and generally rationalize our current pathetic state. We even have people who go as far as to use how the team practices to justify the doldrums that our program finds itself in.

We deserve better than we have now.

I want Mooney gone as much as anyone, but to criticize him because he has improved facilities and chartered flights is off base. Those other coaches were here 20-30 years ago. The landscape of college basketball has changed. This is what teams do.

What I am saying is that DT and JB did a LOT more with a LOT less than CM has done. There is no defensible argument to that fact. There are too many people here that think that ANY criticism of CM is off base, and that way of thinking is simply laughable. He's a D1 college basketball coach, a public figure making a million and a half a year and not getting it done, he's not Pope Francis for Christ's sake.

On an absolute basis, you're 110% right. On a relative basis, we're not as well off. Every other school is also investing in their program as well. 30 years ago, the haves had nice arenas (which wewhad as well) but now they have NBA caliber arenas, dedicated practice facilities, TV revenue, dedicated dorms, special dining facilities, etc. I'm not making excuses. Rather, pointing out what I believe to be a flaw in the argument of less with more.

I would speculate without fact-finding that our investments in basketball (head coach pay, arena, travel, etc.) over the past several years are larger than most, if not all, of our fellow A-10 programs.

Come on he did not say less was more; he simply stating an obvious fact CM has had a lot of advantages that Tarrant and Beilein didn't including compensation.

The point 05 was making is that comparatively to their competition, CM has not had a lot of advantages that Tarrant and Beilein didn’t.

I’m pro firing Mooney, but trying to compare coaches’ records from different eras is hard enough, nevermind their advantages or disadvantages compared to their competition.
