Remember it's not just our performance, but the performance of other teams.
Teams with relatively deep NIT runs like Bona and UVA picked up a few solid wins and moved up quite a bit.
On the flip side, unfortunately, a couple of bad ACC teams in Clemson and Syracuse also passed us by not even qualifying for the postseason and then letting the strong performances of the other ACC teams in the tournament pull them up.
Teams with relatively deep NIT runs like Bona and UVA picked up a few solid wins and moved up quite a bit.
On the flip side, unfortunately, a couple of bad ACC teams in Clemson and Syracuse also passed us by not even qualifying for the postseason and then letting the strong performances of the other ACC teams in the tournament pull them up.
Ridiculous, and probably 75% attributable to getting blown out by Providence, which apparently counts more than winning four games against good teams.Down 3 NET for our NCAA Performance?

That -3 change only counts the Iowa and Providence games.
We moved from 92 to 81 with our A-10 tourney run, then dropped back to 84 based on the NCAA/NIT.

It had been a long, long time since we were in "One shining moment" video so watching that Cayo dunk was satisfying...................but would have been nice to show his face.............and with the back of his uniform only shown Richmond got very little publicity other than to the diehard fans like us...................but at least we were there to be in the video!
Am I the only one who recently re-watched the Spider One Shining Moment vid created in '20 as all the teams were doing soon after the COVID canceled tourney?

Everytime I think about that season, I think about Mooney having to tell the guys at the A-10 tourney that the season is over. I can't imagine, both as a coach having to tell your guys such heart breaking news, and as players, how devastating that must have been.
You suffer through 2 tough losing seasons and get to 24-7, winning 9 of your last 10, many which felt like must win pressure packed games, feeling good about your A-10 tourney chances and an NCAA berth, and just like that, it ends. Just devastating. I realize other teams had this happen as well, and Dayton comes to mind as a team that had to be incredibly crushed by the news, but that doesn't make it any better for our guys. All of that makes the late season run this year that much sweeter! So happy for the guys that they got to celebrate the A-10 title, experience the dance, and celebrate the Iowa win.
