Factual inaccuracies. Literally no one on this board is strong enough with revisionist history to say 10-2 last year.
Last year, we lost by 33 to Jax St., 29 to Wake, 19 to ODU and 13 to Delaware during our 2-10 OOC, but we are supposed to ignore that and assume that is better than this year's 4-7 team?
You're literally comparing two pile of crap.
Realtimerpi had us ~240 at this point last year. For reference.

We literally lost by 20 to the worst D1 team. Tonight, we are 337 out of 353.
And KenPom, which anyone but you I guess would say is a better system to use than the outdated RPI, has us at 204. I doubt we were better than that at this time last year.
VT4700 is still somehow arguing that our team would actually be worse with a starter from an ACC/top 50 team. Truly impressive commitment.
It doesn't matter if this year's team is better than last year's team or not. What matters is that this year's team would be much, much better if we still had Buck and Khwan.
LOL. He went another way.Can we ease up on VT4700 if he admits that he was wrong? We’ve all been wrong in life and this site before.
What rating system should we use, then? We are 252 in NET. Does that make you feel better? One of our four wins is against the #352 team in that ranking. You are the one who talked at length about how tough last year's schedule was. This year's schedule has been complete garbage by any metric, and we only have four wins. You have to know these numbers are meaningless this early in the season, and far from 100% accurate late in the season. The NCAA tourney committee stopped using RPI for a reason. It is a terrible ranking system. You should probably stop using it as well.
Missing from your "analysis" is his impact on defense which may be his primary purpose.Wow. Just think how good we would be if we had that ACC starter who is averaging 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist a game while shooting 40% from the field, 60% from the line, and 25% from 3 point land. 25 minutes and 0 points last game. Wow, what production we are missing.
Bingo, this 4700 guy is so far in the company line that he just doesn't consider defenseMissing from your "analysis" is his impact on defense which may be his primary purpose.
Do they?Funny how so many on here act like we went 10-2 OOC last year and not 2-10.
You are arguing that a pitcher who is8-24-6 with a 6.50 ERA is better than one who is 2-8 with a 1.50 ERA.
Were they?
Good points, and 3) we still need to let the season play out before deciding who was wrong and right. So far, what we have to 2)go on is a 2-10 OOC record with Buck and Khwan and a 4-7 OOC record without them.
We have had 3 common opponents: Gtown, Wake, and ODU.
1) Gtown: lost by 6 with them, lost by 8 without them.
1)Wake: lost by 29, yes 29 with them, and won by 10 without them.
1)ODU: lost by 19, yes 19 with them, and lost by 9 without them.
Looks like we are better without them, and they even had Nick last year.
You have a better chance of hearing that from Mooney himself.Don't you even have to say, that's subpar? I too believe this team has some new players who can compete on the A10 level, so don't you believe Mooney has done a subpar job so far with the OOC games?
I will do my best to answer:1) You really going by the amount of score differential to validate your reasoning? LOL!
2) Kenpom numbers: Team 2-10 played #34 ranked OOC SOS. Team 4-7 has played #339 OOC SOS. Night and day!
3) Ok, play out these last 2 OOC games, but wins against HP and SAlabama does little for your argument.
4700, let me ask you these questions. Being you stated the Spiders would have a good A10 season and possibly contend for a top 4 bye spot, did you really think Mooney's team would have at best a 6-7 OOC record? Don't you even have to say, that's subpar? I too believe this team has some new players who can compete on the A10 level, so don't you believe Mooney has done a subpar job so far with the OOC games?
Except for the fact that as a senior, he most likely would not have accepted a backup point guard spot with us. My point is we are better without him playing thirty-some minutes a game. I have never said I would not want him to play about 15 minutes a game for us.We were crappy last year, we appear to be crappy again this year. It would certainly be nice to have a Rs-Sr backup point guard on the roster right now. Doesn’t seem that debatable.
But, would he have accepted the same role with us this year? Keep in mind he is averaging three points, one rebound, and one steal a game and is not shooting well. Would those numbers have really worked for us this year?Missing from your "analysis" is his impact on defense which may be his primary purpose.
So far, yes. And, if both are piles of crap, why say last year's with Khwan and Buck was better when results so far do not support that?
You keep suggesting that Khwan wasn’t going to play a ton as near as I can tell because you think he was going to have his minutes cut. His departure caught CM by surprise. It seems unlikely he wasn’t going to play a lot. The guy that replaced him is a true freshman we only signed because he decommitted from Siena. It’s not like we had some established alternative waiting in the wings.Except for the fact that as a senior, he most likely would not have accepted a backup point guard spot with us. My point is we are better without him playing thirty-some minutes a game. I have never said I would not want him to play about 15 minutes a game for us.
Also, of note, we are not currently better without him playing 30mpg. We have won three more games than we had at this juncture last year, but this team looks a lot weaker and has far uglier losses.Except for the fact that as a senior, he most likely would not have accepted a backup point guard spot with us. My point is we are better without him playing thirty-some minutes a game. I have never said I would not want him to play about 15 minutes a game for us.
