Khwan Fore Update

Certainly no Mooney fan here, but we appear to be overlooking that someone developed his natural defensive skills over the last four years. No?

Know our defense has sucked for years and know no good word can be be said re: CM by some here, but, in this rare case, believe CM is due a measure of credit. Let the shredding begin...

I'll go first: NO. Buck regressed under Mooney. And Mooney tried to coach the D out of Fore. Mooney wrecks defensive talent. Watch the Jacksonville State and Delaware games last season and see how these guys performed under Mooney's tutelage.

Buck's entire game noticeably regressed under Mooney. I've always said he softens guys.

I attribute it to him having to do more with less help. The loss of TJ Cline & ShawnDre' Jones hurt but Buck did have similar stats. His rebounds went up to 7 per and he had one more assist per game.

BUT he would rather be playing in front of a comatose crowd at 11am on a weekday and have his eardrums pierced by imported middle schoolers. :(
This is perfect!!!!

When I initially read the VT post about us with and w/out KF, I thought I had misread something. That post still sticks. KF is a gamer pure & simple. Now he's being noticed on a bigger stage. Kudos for him!

I caught KF on TV game last week, and he looked tough. Miss having him at the RC but happy that he's happier now.

Can't imagine why Khwan would want to leave Mooney and Richmond to play for Louisville and Mack in front of a sold out house beating Top 10 teams.

I watched most of the Louisville game last night and Khwan was great. He's on TV with 20,000 butts in the seats, and beating the #9 team in the country. That's more fun then he'd be having here. Hope he gets to play in March Madness.

It's certainly a different role for him. Still plays great defense, but he's not even involved offensively. I think he'll earn more time though. Have to play a guy who works that hard on the defensive end.

I still can't believe people thought we would be better without Khwan and Buck.

So true and seeing KF now play defense, he appears even better covering the opponent's point guard. Took for granted his play but realizing now that as a Spider he usually was at a disadvantage covering a bigger SG but just went about his business.

I've said it too and got shredded. TA and DT are prime examples.

I got on DT and Trey D a lot about being of no use offensively but with UR defense so poor these days, I guess Mooney had to have them in there. Maybe like you say here maybe Mooney just didn't put these two in the best position to succeed on offense or least hide their deficiencies? Of course also including TA on just being able to progress under Mooney.

How about some happy news! KF started his 2nd game in a row today and played 24 quality minutes. Yes, Khawn Fore STARTED AGAIN TODAY FOR LOUISVILLE.

Nothing spectacular, 3-4 from field and foul line for 9 points. Had 2 assists and a steal. Don't see it in the box score but probably played some good, solid defense. How crazy is that Mack guy starting a non-scorer like this.

I generally agree with what you are saying but vt4700 isnt a fan. He is a paid propagandist.

I dont like when people come after ulla. Ulla is a fan like us, just with a different opinion.
Agree with all of the above. Though I admit to going after Ulla sometimes, but I know he just likes Mooney and want the
Spiders to win. 4700 on the other hand is living the life that is CRAZY

I feel bad for vt4700, and all the fans he managed to convince that we would be improved without Buck and Khwan. It was always a patently absurd theory, but every fan wants their team to succeed, and that can make absurd theories believable. The buildup of false hope makes the team's performance this season even more painful.

I still don't understand LongTimeSpiderFan's insistence that Buck was not a good player while he was still on the team though.

if VT's defense, we'll never know. VT's premise assumed a healthy Sherod and Gilyard. we knew we had no room for any of the big 3 to get hurt.

we were bad last year. the team structure with 4 guards didn't work. and the structure this year would likely remain the same with them here, with Cayo and Woj in minor supporting roles.

But how many fans did he convince, 3? I think you're mischaracterizing. Or perhaps you didn't realize it was just VT4700 saying the same thing over and over again and not other fans. Honest mistake. I feel like the overwhelming majority disagreed with the assertion. Of course Mooney could have game planned differently with those guys but that's on the coach.

He had spider23 believing we would average over 90 points per game

23, was being glib with his 90 points a game. And the only person VT convinces is himself. Sadly, his viewpoint is probably the accepted viewpoint within the Robins Center and it just shows the stunning group think and disconnect within the halls over there.

Khwan is starting for Louisville now, Buck was A-10 rookie of the year, we have an RPI in the 330's right now. Yeah, we are a much much worse team without them, only the dullest crayon couldn't not have seen this coming.

Although, having said that, I knew we would be bad this year, I didn't realize that we be losing at home to Longwood, Oral Roberts, Hampton bad though.

We lost at home to Longwood and were getting killed by Hampton with Nick playing. We lost both games in that tournament with Nick playing. We are who we are with our without him, unfortunately.

Good points, and we still need to let the season play out before deciding who was wrong and right. So far, what we have to go on is a 2-10 OOC record with Buck and Khwan and a 4-7 OOC record without them.

We have had 3 common opponents: Gtown, Wake, and ODU.

Gtown: lost by 6 with them, lost by 8 without them.

Wake: lost by 29, yes 29 with them, and won by 10 without them.

ODU: lost by 19, yes 19 with them, and lost by 9 without them.

Looks like we are better without them, and they even had Nick last year.

Funny how so many on here act like we went 10-2 OOC last year and not 2-10.
