Khwan Fore Update

Louisville down to Kentucky right now but Khwan getting some good minutes and playing well. I've enjoyed catching some Louisville games this year and watching him play. A real glue guy on defense and man is he quick, beating guys off the dribble even against top 25 teams. Good for him.

Why are you we following him? He left us, if I’m not mistaken.
It’s like following a recruit we didn’t get.
Oh yeah, some of you did that too.

I said I might be mistaken, but that makes it even more puzzling. He played well for us, but he isn’t going to
be in the ring of honor.
I wish him well as person. But he’s playing pretty much the way he played for us- just a
better program.

??? Good minutes? Playing well? He played 12 minutes and scored 3 points on 1-4 shooting. Meanwhile, Wojcik scored 22 and got 8 boards today. Yes, we are better this year without him.

There's gotta be a transitive property that equates South Alabama to Kentucky.

This board went crazy about Khwan when he started against 4-8 Robert Morris and scored 0 points, so yes, I will talk up Wojcik for scoring 22 with 8 boards against South Alabama.

As I said, as a person I only wish him well.
But I don’t care if Louisville loses all of their ,
games. I care about the situation we have
with the players we have.

You must know that nobody on here will take anything you say seriously or give anything you say any credibility. This is the type of things that one person spouts that makes the entire fanbase look bad.

Some may disagree over whether people who want Mooney fired are "real fans" or not but you saying these things makes it clear you are not and only see the program through a level of delusion that can't warrant any intelligent conversation about our players or program.

I never thought of Khwan as a valuable scorer on our team, I always looked at him as a defensive stopper. I only watched a few minutes of his game yesterday, but as he was leaving the announcers said he was a valuable member of UL basketball because he was such a good defender, he was shutting down UK's top scorer.

I miss Kwan for his crazy athleticism, his explosiveness, his cool demeanor
and his great defense. He is a great young man, he is gone and life goes on.
My focus is what we have now and who is on the roster. Move on folks.

CS, I see your point but for me I'm enjoying watching Louisville play more these days than the Spiders. I will continue to observe how KF is doing and probably post some here whether it's good or bad for Khawn.

Plus it's easier to find the Cards playing on TV for me.

Maybe it's your opinion that "we are better this year w/out him".

Just wondering if Mooney would agree with you on that.

Of course it is my opinion. Nearly everything posted on here is an opinion. If people do not agree, that is fine, but so far I have seen nothing happen to change my opinion. A 6 foot shooting guard who cannot shoot playing big minutes is not a recipe for success. It just isn't.

I can only speak for myself, but I appreciate the quality play KF gave us. He was a gritty & tough player, and I enjoyed his contributions. I'm glad he's having a good year at Louisville & enjoy following his continued success.

Good year? He is averaging 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 assist a game on 37% shooting overall, 59% from the line, and 21% from 3. Fine, he plays good D when he gets in there, but my goodness, some of you are really reaching with the love here.

Posters complaining about so much love for KF but I look at it as APPRECIATION for what he brought to the table for UR basketball. What I see more of is the hate for him shown forth in a subtle way by a few posters here. Sad!

Not me. I am not hating. Yes, I questioned his shooting while here, but a lot of people on here questioned that. I always said I liked him, but once we got Jacob, I wanted him to be a 15 minute a game player for us. We saw what happened last year with him playing big minutes, and I did not want a repeat of that this year. After a 12-20 season, I am not sure why so many people cannot at least see my point here, even if they disagree.

Wojcik is a tough player and more playing time for him due to the departures will pay dividends in the long run. Short term I think it hurts though. Fore has never been an offensive threat but he is a solid defender. Mack recognizes his defensive toughness so he gets spot minutes. I am of the mind that this seasons team would be excellent with Khwan and Buck. Gilyard, Wojcik, Cayo and Golden will do well but having Buck and Fore in that mix could have been lethal. Defense is an issue for the team and they would have helped. They are gone and now it is back to looking to the future. Comparing last season and this season makes no sense.

Hopefully, no players transfer out next year or it will be groundhog day. It is not like Fore and Buckingham are outliers. When Ododa left it hurt a very good team with Terry Allen. Losing his defense is similar to losing Fore off of this team. It can easily be argued but there is no getting around the fact that it hurt. I think posters will need to wrap their heads around the fact that Mooney might get more time due to the outlook of the 2019 roster.

Chris Mack is a winner, knows how to utilize talent, and recruits well. Maybe you should take your conversation to him?

It's hard to believe Coach Chris M. saw anything worth recruiting.

Why would you paste what you did and then post that? He is not playing big minutes at Louisville. He played 13 yesterday. That is probably about what he will play in conference games this year. I don't think Khwan would have accepted the same role here. And, I still think Louisville will have a hard time in the ACC and will not make the dance.

Why not? He never struck me as a "I need minutes" player. He was good teammate.

I hear you, but I doubt many guys would play 30+ minutes in back to back seasons and then settle for 15 his senior year at the same school while backing up a sophomore. I just did not see that happening here. We'll never know. Just my opinion.

Correct - your opinion. Some months back I posted, but worth repeating now. CM has always been loyal to returning & seasoned starters. Without mentioning names of players graduated - to a fault. KF was much more an influence & productive however one wants to measure it.

I have no idea why anyone would think that KF's minutes would have been cut more than 50% this year if he would have returned. Please explain to me any logical justification given Mooney's longstanding history & pattern of players' minutes played.

I 100% see your point. I actually agree we weren’t going to be meaningfully better with fore at 2G. But your insistence that we are better off without him and buck is just a ridiculous position. We aren’t better without them. We need kf as a bench guy at both pg/Sg or when we need D.

I’m not trying to pick at you, but not acknowledging this makes you seem like you’re either a total homer or ignoring something virtually everyone else sees.

More than 50%? Who asked for that? 50% would have been perfect, and I think Mooney knew that another 12-20 record might be the result with the same starting 5. So, you tell me what he would have done? Be loyal with a starting 5 that does not fit, and is destined for failure, or mix things up and try to win more? I guess you already answered that. Allow me to disagree.

I think I have acknowledged that. More than once. Sorry to be misleading. I would love to have Khwan here for 15 minutes, but I don't think he is a 30 minute a game player here because because of his size and shooting, and the fact that we have a stud true PG. When I say we are better, I always mean better than a 30 minute a game Khwan. Thanks for helping me clear that up.

As for Buck, I am not a fan of guys getting suspended for a game, especially when we have a 5 game winning streak. He let his team down, and team chemistry is too important. And, I did not think he was a good fit either. Like Khwan, he needs to shoot better. Good athlete, but not a 30 minute a game player. Otherwise, plenty of teams not 3,000 miles away would have wanted him. So, allow me to rephrase. Our starting 5 is better this year, and it will be hard for me to think otherwise.

Mooney was blindsided by Fore leaving. That's a fact. He tried to talk him into staying. That's a fact. The idea that Fore left because he didn't want to accept a reduced role is simply wrong. He wasn't going to have a reduced role. We only recruited Wojcik after Fore left anyway.

Agreed Eoght. Fore didn’t want to stay here and have to go to class another year, so he went to Louisville.

Fore was a major loss to the program. I enjoyed watching him play and was devastated went he left. I followed how he did his first few game at Louisville and then it hit me. The dude is a traitor for leaving our program for another school. It is kind of like your wife leaving you and upgrading for another man. You don’t say, “it was a great 10 years and I wish her happiness with her new husband.” I will be rooting against Loisville.

Except this is like a woman leaving her husband who abused her and promised he would change except he never did. The husband in this case is Mooney. Can't blame someone for getting out of a toxic relationship.
