Khwan Fore Update

I would comment, but I have been warned about my behavior on this thread. So I will stay quiet.

I'll comment. Fore must be loving playing in the ACC at such a basketball tradition rich school.

Winners win, losers lose.

They do have an extremely tough stretch of games, starting with the L to UNC. I feel like Mack and Fore have the "fore"titude to be successful.

Winners win, losers lose.

His reasons for leaving UR and enrolling at Louisville were led by the opportunity to “take my game to another level, just compete a whole lot more, expand my game, and go as far in the [NCAA] tournament as I can,” Fore said.

The potential of playing professionally “definitely was” part of the choice to leave UR, Fore said. “That’s my biggest goal, actually.”

Rather than playing in the Atlantic 10, as he did for three seasons, Fore is competing in the ACC, generally regarded as college basketball’s elite league.

“It’s a level higher, a step higher,” Fore said. “I’m holding myself to a higher standard, just being more locked-in. We’re playing tough teams every game, especially in conference play.”

(Not behind a pay wall, so I feel like I can copy and paste).

Sounds like the reasons most people hypothesized. Happy for him, but not a great look for our program that wanting to take his game to another level and get ready for the pros wasn’t available here...

A10 vs ACC; yep, I’d say a higher level.

Seems to me that Mack mostly got the better of Moonbeam back when X was in the A-10.

I keep dreaming that one of these mornings I will wake up, turn on the TV and CM will be gone for good. Not having it come true has become something of a personal nightmare.

Mack got the benefit of Malcom Bernard not being able to enroll at UR for reasons that are still not clear. I contend that if we kept him on campus we would have made the NCAA that year. Malcom over Kwesi is at least a three game upswing. I've believed this for a while and thought I'd now post since we're talking transfers and Mack/Xavier. Would have made half these conversations nonexistent. :)

BTW...always loved Kwan. No hard feelings there. Wish him continued success and that he would've stayed. Tried to convince when we saw him at the Grill. Jokingly said...it's not too late to change your mind. Joe Kirby's response was great, "He still needs to graduate." He actually had a book in his hand. Love our student athletes! Even when they move on.

Mack took Xavier to the NCAA's 8 out of the 9 years he was there head coach. Bernard was there for one year and was probably the 3rd or 4th best player on the X team. Bluett was I believe Big East player of the year that year.

I would have loved to see Bernard in a Spider uniform for that year. Ever since then, Mooney has been completely unable to mine the grad transfer market for what it is supposed to do. This year we desperately needed a good senior wing player to compliment our very young team. So, he goes out and grabs a guy who is a rotational piece on Yale's bench.

Hey, it's better than getting guys who weren't rotational pieces on someone's bench...glass half full bruv.

Is like when were winning at the 5 minute mark in the 2nd half but end up losing by 7? Better than losing the whole game? I can dig, but did we compete well?

After watching Fore in the Va Tech game, I can sure tell he was coached by Mooney.

Ulla, the A10 sends multiple teams to the tournament each year. History shows us the league is good enough to get an at large bid every year. Why are we not one of the teams getting a bid? It’s because our coach doesn’t recruit well, doesn’t manage the roster well, is a poor bench coach, and is slow to adjust or change things he does that have proven time and again to not work. Our deterioration as a basketball program has nothing to do with our conference affiliation. It has to do with the programs leader.

I wonder why JOC never did an article on the handful of kids who transferred down - especially to the DII level. Or how Solly Stansbury is lighting it up in Belgium (Spoiler - he is not).

Well, if he hadn't thought of that idea, perhaps now he has.

Nice piece. Obviously it’s a different situation at Louisville in terms of style of D and the players he is surrounded by, but it shows that we had a very capable starter in Khwan. I think his play was often under appreciated here because of his perceived offensive shortcomings but he was a very solid contributor. Glad he’s found a role.

I always saw Khwan as a lock down defender who could occasionally go off on the offensive side. Hated to lose him, but happy for him to enjoy success.

Similar to Trey Davis in my mind. Always appreciated both their games.

I really like Trey, but I have to agree Khwan was better. However, he just said similar, I'm sure he meant both good defenders.

Expected loss on the road but a tough OT one for the Cards after having a 10 point 2nd half lead. Having 23 TOs did them in. KF had 6 points on 3-5 shooting in 25 minutes.

Tough game for KF and even harder one for the Cards. Saw a few posts in the other thread, and just like to state compared to others on the team, Khawn had little to do with the loss. Won't explain my reason unless pro-Mooney posters want to press the issue.

Didn't see game but highlights show almost another sure win turned loss like against Duke. Tells me they still have that Duke game in their heads. KF got 18 minutes and played good D until those last 2 3PT shots his guy made at the end.

Mack seems to be trying to get Perry more time since KF and McMahon can't play point and Cunningham has to be worn down by this time in the year. Perry can score and bring up the ball but what I have saw this season is too many mental breakdowns for Mack's liking.

Is it possible to put an entire thread on ignore?

Surprised how much you hate hearing about KF enjoying his final year of playing. I know, it sucks having Mooney ruin your enjoyment of Spider basketball. Me too! The Cards have become my go-to team this season since with Khawn there I feel like I'm rooting for the Spiders in a way.

Me too. Mooney has taken a lot of the fun out of the college basketball season, but kind of adopted Louisville cause I want to see Khwan do well.

He probably got tired of Mooney's pathetic competing and next year talk. Only took Khwan 4 years to realize what some of our fans and posters still haven't realized about Mooney. Smart kid.

UVA held the Cards to 15 points in 2nd half. KF had 0 for the day and only 15 minutes. If Mack can't get enough points from the 4 starters along side KF, than Khawn won't get that much playing time. I can't disagree with that strategy.
