Khwan Fore Update

Maybe, maybe not. We will never know. Where are the shooters in this lineup? What we do know is these same 5 were part of a 12-20 team last year that included Nick, who carried us in A-10 play. We don't even win 10 games without Nick last year. And what we also know is our new starting 5 is struggling along at 7-13 this year. I see the same issues with both teams: consistently getting out shot from 3 and out rebounded.
That "young" team last year played well down the stretch, thus the optimism. I have a friend that played on the URI s16 team years ago and he was texting me that Spiders would be good this year. I told him Mooney will screw it up. I was right. We all agreed we would have a good shooting team this year. What happened? Mooney's coaching.

I don't get your #1 at all. Why do you think Mooney couldn't figure out how to make Khwan fit here? Are you saying if Khwan were averaging the 3.8 ppg, 1.4 reb, and 1.4 assists this year for us that he is for Louisville we would be winning more? How exactly did Mooney not make him fit? I think Mooney got everything he could have out of Khwan. Not sure what more anyone could have expected. He is playing good defense and is 9th on their team in scoring. Good for him. I mean that. Good for him, but why do some continue to act like he is the ACC player of the year?

Sorry to drag this on further.

VT I think what we've seen this year is what many here were arguing for most of Khwan's time here. The ideal role for him is 20-25 min/game, defensive stopper. Not counted on or expected to provide double digit scoring, any points he adds are a bonus.

Having watched a few of Louisville's games this season, when they are on offense he is typically not asked to do anything other than pass the ball onto the next guy. I think he has the ability to be averaging 8 or 10 points per game for them, but they recognize that they have more talented offensive players that should take the scoring load.

Finally a great post
All we would have hoped for with Kwan this year and this would have produced more victories than we have which means more BENEFITS

Chris M. is a much better coach than Chris M.

I read the article. I'm glad he's having success. He's clear about his reasons for the transfer.
That is a "Khwan Fore Update." This back and forth hypothetical about what he'd be doing here is growing tiresome.

You know what else is tiresome? This " all world player" at Louisville talk. He is averaging 3 points, 1 board, and 1 assist a game. I am not trying to badmouth Khwan at all. I have always said I liked Khwan and he is a good player. But, my goodness, can we at least try to keep it real around here? Many of you have found numerous reasons to get on Mooney, but you are really reaching trying to make Khwan one of them. And, he is certainly not the only mid-major to ever transfer to a P6, so are all of those non P6 coaches at fault for that as well?

I haven't called him all world. Again, I'm glad he's having success. He's starting on a top 20 team in front of raucous crowds. He's going to the tournament this year. His decision to transfer seems to be validated.
His reasons for leaving UR and enrolling at Louisville were led by the opportunity to “Take my game to another level, just compete a whole lot more, expand my game, and go as far in the [NCAA] tournament as I can,” said Fore.
I appreciate the updates on Khwan and Louisville. I don't think every Cardinal game should be an opportunity to reignite the "what if" debate or take potshots at each other. That horse is dead. I think you agree.

That being said, there are Mooney defenders on other forums who are using the loss of Fore and Buck (& Nick) as their primary reason to give him another year.

glad it's going to work out for Khwan to dance, but still amazed Louisville didn't get the death penalty.

What makes you say that would have produced more victories this year? With Nick last year and with Khwan playing 30 minutes a game, we won 12 games last year. So, are you saying a combination of less time for Khwan and no Nick would mean more victories?

I am in the (unprovable) camp that if we played straight man-to-man last year with Khwan and Buck (and Solly Stansbury) we'd have won more than 12 games. THAT is putting Khwan in a position to succeed.

probably couldn't do much worse, but I'm in the camp that Nick would struggle in man at the 3 and Buck might struggle in man at the 4. I think Jacob is better in zone space too. He's better making reads for steals than he is in stopping someone from getting in the lane.
not sure about Grant. he might be better in man where he can focus on one guy more.

Additionally, what VT4700 keeps leaving out, was that the team was scoring very well and playing very well down the stretch - as you would expect a young team to do and continue to improve into the next season. Dude is talking out of both side of his mouth.

Other important stuff happened tonight, so quick update has Cards killing Wake and KF 4 points in 17 minutes with a little time left. Usual stuff.

At this point in this thread, I think it's relevant to ask if anyone has heard if Andrew White might come to Richmond next year? Any chance? Do we have a shot?

NCAA is so afraid of the power conf teams now kinda of a joke. But low major or mid major they'll get penalties. You don't employ both Pitino & Petrino at same time without being dirty. It's impossible. Heck UNC is walking away with nothing on their fake classes. After Pedo State rightfully got hit by NCAA and then regretted accepting the penalties the big schools will just litigate these now and NCAA will let them get away with it.

Khwan is on ESPN in about 20 minutes playing against North Carolina. Lets cheer him on guys!

Have fun watching. Don't blink or you might miss his 3 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound a game.

I'm planning on having a lot of fun! Have a few fellow Richmond Alums here all rooting on the Cardinals and Khwan to beat UNC. We're the type of fans who like to support our players which I know is a foreign concept to you. But that's ok!

The question is...Will you see more than that from Kenny Williams in 27 minutes?

I always support our players. Sounds like you are the one having a hard time doing that this year. Looks like you went from a big supporter to, well, rooting for other teams. Interesting. You might want to look up the words "our" and "ex" in the dictionary. Might help your posts make more sense.

I think I need to return my Richmond degree because I just lost so many brain cells reading this.

I've been a Louisville fan since I was 6 and have been there everytime since then that they've made the final four. Nice try though! :D

In all seriousness, sounds like fun. Can't think of anything better than having some friends over, having Mom pop some popcorn and make some Kool-Aid, and watching an ex Spider play about 17 or 18 minutes today. Do you guys have some good movies picked out for later?

Thanks man! If we need some salt for the popcorn I'll be sure to refer to your posts for all the salty goodness we could ever need!

Having fun yet? Hope you did not blink and miss the 0 points, 1 rebound and 1 turnover in the first half. Hey, you are only down 16. Maybe Khwan can help engineer a big comeback in the second half.

Who hurt you? I'm so sorry.

Funny. Spoken from the guy who constantly trolled me for several days after he stopped supporting our program this year.

I think everyone here knows that I support the program and have seen that I have gone from one of the most vocal Mooney supporters to someone who no longer shows support for him. I do recall one post where I said if Mooney was not fired after an embarrassing loss I would no longer support the program this year - that obviously proved false as I'm still here everyday and still in contact with former players over the past 6 years to support their professional careers in America and abroad.

I think the case can be made that you are the one that does not support the program very well since you want the same mediocre coach to continue leading us into bad seasons.

VT, we all support the players! IT'S COACH MOONEY WHO WE DON't SUPPORT! Not only the nonsense posts from you but now I see why you like Mooney so much. Two peas in a pod scared to acknowledge the underachieving while showing not much class.

Well onto the game, not much good for Louisville or KH today. I posted probably if the Cards get behind by enough (like today) you won't see much of Khawn on the court. Mack knows defense comes second in that situation.

The Cards have played way over their heads this season. Never expected what Mack has done with this squad. I believe that Louisville including this loss could go 1-6 in the next 7. Win 2 of the last 3 for 10-8 ACC record and should easily get a bid.

Jeez VT did Khwan beat you up as a kid or something? Does your family have a grudge against the Fore family? What's your deal man?

Ply, I have obviously had my difference with you on this board before. But I do see the difference between you and other fans, that just came to the conclusion that we need to move on from Moon at different times (it took me a good 5 year period myself). Don't let VT get to you, he obviously has an agenda and no regard for Richmond basketball.

BH, we have caught 47 in so many inconsistencies on this board he is just a joke. Don't worry about him. He will not show up at the spidernation pick up game this summer that is for sure. If he does he will be giving Matt Smith mouth to mouth......again.
Is there actually a Spidernation pick up game? If so I'd be the best person there.
