Job Postings

Good post. Good information.

Most current status based on what I have read:

I know that most have already read the quote below by Coach Rocco, but it remains unaltered by any additional information and seems encouraging to me in view of the push made by fans on this board and others. I do not see how the administration cannot but make a large push to maintain his services.

"Delaware: The school is making a strong run at Richmond head coach Danny Rocco, according to The News Journal. Rocco is in his fifth season at Richmond and plays in the second round of the FCS playoffs this weekend. Rocco said this week: “I think right now what I plan on doing is doing everything in my power to extend our season. And when the season is over, I want to sit down with all of the appropriate people to be able to make the best decision for me and my family moving forward. Tomorrow is promised to no one. And I do believe that I will have some options when the season is over.”

I would also point our that on the "GoHens" board, two posters who seems to be fairly knowledgeable state as follows:
1. "Post by joe c on Tue Nov 29, 2016 10:47 pm
First... Don't kill the messenger...I have been told that we have offered the position To Rocco...He will likely bring his son from Western Illinois...I was told this morning....The person that told me is same man that told me Keeler was getting fired 2 weeks before he was actually axed..."

2. "Post by VIKING '87 on Sun Dec 04, 2016 2:23 pm
A couple of us noted that the decision on the HC was made about two weeks back and the offer was made and accepted. Once the coach's season is complete (playoffs), it will be announced. I for one cannot say who that is for certain."

The only conclusion that I can draw from the above is that either Coach Rocco is lying (totally out of character) or that the Delaware "persons in the know" need to question their sources. Adding to that it has been reported on this board that a few members of the BOT have become involved in trying to resolve the issue, I feel encouraged that we will retain his services and provide him with the additional resources and longer term security that he deserves.

If we do lose Rocco just please don't go out and get that idiot Broadway like some have been suggesting.

The quieter it is on the UD front, the more there is to worry about. If they don't seem to be doing much (as it appears they aren't), the more reason to think they don't have anything to do because they know who their man is.

This is terrible if true. I am done supporting this program if we lose Rocco. Even worse is that I don't trust our pisspoor athletic department to make a good hire, which means we're going to get a dope like Broadway. Way to go Keith Gill and president Crutcher.

I would agree that no news out of Delaware in the next 3-4 days is probably pretty horrible news for us.

This did pop up at coachingsearch.com today...

Delaware: Illinois defensive backs coach Paul Williams is a candidate for the Delaware head coaching job. Williams played at Delaware and also served as an assistant from 1999-2004.

IF, and a big IF, this situation goes south, you better bet your last dollar that Mike London will be on the list. Not saying he gets the job, but just watch.

I would be fine with a Mike London return. He is a good coach at the fcs level and he loves UR and his players love him. Rocco is a far better coach though so let's hope we don't need to search for a new coach.

Now, that's what I'm talking about. Another thoughtful, reasonable and welcomed-by-many non-sequitur.

Statements and reasoning like that would be reason, in itself, to deny you admission to UR.
I get why y'all don't like London and I didn't like the way he left either. If we lose Rocco who should we get? You tell me.

Nick Saban, provided we are willing to wait until after the FBS playoffs to announce.
Actually, I have not given it a thought since Rocco is staying.

I like the way you think! I refuse to believe he's leaving as well. Let's stop all this talk of coaching changes and keep this train rolling this week.

They'll make some politically correct hire...like the first woman head football coach.

Just curious...What's your hang up with Broadway? you have mentioned Broadway negatively in 3 posts now. Did he say you were slow or couldn't catch at a camp? Pulled a scholie offer?

Or it cold be they have decided that by allowing it to leak out before the contract was actually signed they realized they may have lost their guy. Rule 1 on coaching searches KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT.

Curious as to Hen AD flying to Chucktown on 12/1 to have a hit-and-run meeting at CHS likely with Chas Southern or Citadel coach.

Calling Broadway a dope demonstrates not just an inability to evaluate a good head coach, but an incredible lack of respect for a man who has always emphasized doing things "the right way."

He may not be a fit for UR - to my knowledge he has never expressed an interest in coaching anywhere other than HBCUs - but he's a tremendously successful coach.

His number one rule is "Don't do anything that's gonna embarrass your mother."
Indeed.

I don't like him because people have suggested him to be the next coach repeatedly and I think he's a bad fit for us.

Supposedly that plane has nothing to do with UD's search.

If Rocco leaves, two words:

Dave Clawson

If you are suggesting that Keith Gill can woo DC away from an ACC school that's headed to a bowl game, I've got a some land to sell...

Speaking of Gill, has he been seen or heard since he was sitting in 40B on the way up to Grand Forks?

Not a peep but I keep firing off emails on a daily basis.

I think he's way too old, doesn't seem like a fiery guy who would excite kids to play for him and I think he came across as not very articulate or well spoken in his press conference after our game. Also I don't think he knows how to coach or recruit outside of the HBCU scene. He wouldn't know how to recruit better talent at our level and he probably wouldn't know how to relate to kids at a non HBCU school or coach them well. All that being said I don't think we'll have to worry about hiring him because we aren't losing Rocco.

Hi everyone,

Been reading these boards on and off for the past five years.

I finally decided to post, mostly because of the fact that I cannot believe how our administration could be so out of touch with the athletics department. This university has such a good football coach in Rocco, and it is hard to believe that we could lose him.

But if we do lose him, do you guys think Garrett would go with him? I remember reading on here that Garrett could be the head coach in waiting if Rocco decided to leave.

Since Miller left as AD,Gill the new AD does not know how to manage either up or down.He has the stigma inside RC within the coaching ranks as being an empty suit with absolutely no leadership qualities. In essence, the wrong guy for us at the wrong time.Crutcher the new Prez has been around for only 1.5 years
and really hasn't been in touch as to what has been going on inside RC up until recently.Rocco has been going at it alone on an array of pressing problems with no support from Gill.
Lots of stuff will hit the fan if Danny leaves. If I were Gill,I'd be looking for another job right now.Same for Walsh.

You called him a dope. A man who took over losing teams at 3 different schools and made them all black college national champions.

Deleted in the interest of "civility."

I'll just paraphrase him again.
Don't do (or say) anything that's gonna embarrass your mother (or father).

I think they all go if Danny, with major raises, if he leaves. Both garret and Cosh are HC material and very well respected by the team but I, inclined to think everyone heads out with DR
