FBI investigation

Nothing to see here regarding VCU. NCAA trying to show that they are now being proactive and investigating because LSU suddenly has a top 3 recruiting class.........

NCAA may have also received some "tips" from rival coaches. Doesn't mean that there is anything nefarious going on...when a young coach comes in with a brash attitude (I think it's fair to say Wade exhibits that at times) then rival coaches can get their feathers ruffled. It's an NCAA led investigation so nothing will probably come of it.

You can't say there's nothing to see here. VCU might be the low hanging fruit that the NCAA needs to say "hey, we're still in charge".

Yup they’ll be so mad at UNC and Arizona that VCU will pay for their misdeeds, at least we can hope. Ncaa would have no problem going after a non p5 school.

Also yea wade just suddenly became a sleezy recruiter in the last 10 months lol....forget that he was pulling in guys with ease that had multiple major program offers.

yep, probably rival coaches who don't like it that wade is getting some of their prospects not that lsu is a squeaky clean program at all. do recall roy williams when at kansas taking a big shot at billy donavan when he was getting florida going and just saying that he was getting kids who should only go to unc or kansas type schools. what a crock that was if a guy can go out and work his butt off recruiting and have to put up with BS like that. have no idea if wade is sleasy, or just a hard worker but what i read seemed to smell like a hit piece with no facts.

the ncaa does not run college football any longer and their revenue comes from men's basketball and it is enormous. they are not going to go after the cash cow programs, see the huge hit on unc, wink, wink, they will slap a few but that is all. they do not want to rock the boat unless forced to do so.

These FBI investigations into College Basketball’s dirty laundry only further fortifies Mooney’s position at UR especially with the recent revelation that Broad Street U and Wade are being looked at by the Feds as well.

The feds aren't looking at VCU yet, the NCAA is. And we probably shouldn't cast any stones just yet.

Tbh there is probably a whole lot going down under the FBI investigation we don’t know about, just hasn’t come to light yet, they are much better at investigating than the NCAA. They also don’t leak like they do either.

If the NCAA is into something my guess the FBI already has everything they need(This is regarding Arizona, not VDU). They have subpoena power, the NCAA doesn’t. Six figure cash payouts from state employees is a big no no if it’s not reported. Looking at embezzlement and money laundering charges down the line. This is probably the true turning point for the NCAA.

This could be a nothing burger for VCU or they could be screwed who knows. Either way not a good look, bet they’re happy he left now. They can plug their ears and close their eyes and pretend that stuff he’s being investigated for at LSU never happened there. My bet is he wasn’t clean at vdu either.

The Feds are as well.

If that is true then there might be some nervous folks on Broad St. The NCAA has no subpoena power and as we have seen with the UNC mess their investigations rarely lead to major punishments...particularly for the blue blood programs. The FBI is another story. Folks tend to speak up when federal prison terms are on the table.

Personally, I think pretty much every major program is doing this on some level. The ones that will get busted are the ones like Arizona, where the coach is involved. I think a lot of coaches turn their eyes willingly the other way, while boosters, agents, and others of that ilk, lavish star recruits and their families with lots of cash.

Agreed, plausible deniability by the head coach.

Wade's last recruiting class included:
Lavar Batt$
$ean Mobley
Marcu$ $anto-$ilva$

His first big time recruit at L$U was New Haven's finest Tremont Water$.

Follow the $
Wade’s last recruiting class pulled out when the $$$$$ went to Louisiana.
