FBI investigation

So some of them were getting “loan advances” to be paid when they got drafted? Looks like if they were not drafted they wrote it off as bad debt.

I think bad debt means the player ended up signing with another agency and the debt could not be recouped.

Ok

Ok maybe so. I just saw on one of the reports that actually stated the young man was not drafted, then it said bad debt beside his name.

Boy I bet these coaches thought they were only committing NCAA violations, not federal law. I can’t imagjne how many coaches not caught are shredding documents already gathered by the FBI

Wonder if TA’s Mom or Solly’s dad had dinner with Adidas. Lol. Very doubtful

There are going to be a lot of people at high level schools losing jobs. Not a great time to be in the market for a new coach, unless the NCAA actually gives out some death sentences to the big boys.

Agreed. These P5 programs are going to be fishing for guys with "squeaky clean" reputation too....

"Loaning" players and recruits money is a fairly common practice that will get you sideways with the NCAA pretty quickly. Recall that Oliver Weiss, former UR soccer star and former head soccer coach at Tech, recruited heavily from overseas. He was covering recruits and players travel expenses, to be repaid later. The NCAA caught up to him, and he got the boot from Tech and has not had a high profile coaching gig since.

Interesting that three of the schools named: Oklahoma, Alabama and LSU were the destinations of the last three vcu coaches. Probably just a coincidence; just sayin’.

Know a few years back a big donor friend of mine at vdu said ncaa investigators were sniffing around some recruiting violations under Anthony Grants. Nothing came of it. This was roughly 2014.

I have long thought vcu cheats in some kind of way. Most likely academics and passing guys who have no business passing just to keep them eligible. Wouldn't be at all shocked if they have or in the past paid guys.

There is nothing in the article about VCU doing anything illegal, and since the "information gathering" only covers a part of Wade's short time at VCU, it doesn't go back "a long time."

Nothing to see here regarding VCU. NCAA trying to show that they are now being proactive and investigating because LSU suddenly has a top 3 recruiting class.........
