Maybe I am reading far too much into body language and am hoping for a change.
Did any of you feel this way too?

Watching Mooney’s post game interview seemed to me, that Chris was sad and more uncomfortable than usual. I have no inside knowledge, but to me it seemed that he realizes that his
position is coming to an end.

Could just be general embarrassment of running a ballclub that's 24-39 over the last two seasons for $1.2M per year. Could be something more.

We can only hope it happens quickly after next week to begin the rebuilding process. Time to find a coach who can take these talented players and create a winning team.

I think you’re seeing something that’s not there. That post game presser was pretty cookie cutter for CM. Talked about competing, being close, focusing on practice, etc. these are all signature themes for him.

I saw nothing that made me think that this loss is any more significant than the other 18.
You very well may be correct. Maybe I’m just sadder and hopeful for a change that I don’t see
coming.

On the off chance Hardt grows a pair of balls and fires Mooney, when would be the most likely time he would do it. Wednesday or Thursday after loss or after A-10 tournament or wait until after NCAA Tournament?

I would think after the A-10 Tournament. Unless, he already has someone in mind, it would give him
an opportunity to network during The NCAA’s, to chose a candidate.

Rumors flying (Twitter) that Shaka is going to be out at Texas. And that they are working with him to deduce his buyout (At $12.5MM this year) by helping him find new employment.

So maybe you guys are still in the hunt for him?

How bout a straight swap...

Ex VCU coaches have been getting fired all over the country for various but obvious reasons. Wonder how long Pittsburgh will give Capel after a dismal year.

I would take Shaka here. Mooney recruited just fine here 11-12 years ago when he was motivated.
Not sure the red sweaters are a “havoc” crowd. :)

The blue checks are saying he is likely out at Texas and headed to Wake.

We call it the curse of VCU. Coaches who leave for bigger schools don't have a great record. Here is a post copied from RamNation on the subject:

The graveyard of ex-VCU head coaches being fired at their next stop is definitely growing.

Dana Kirk - Memphis State
JD Barnett - Tulsa
Jeff Capel - Oklahoma
Anthony Grant - Alabama
Will Wade - LSU
Shaka Smart - Texas (currently on life support)

I guess VCU is more of a destination job than these guys thought. They just didn't want to see that at the time and eventually paid the price for it.

Note to Mike Rhoades - Take a good look at what happened to your predecessors before you look to jump. It's a graveyard out there!

They all cashed in though.

This. "On loop" as Noah would say. CM did add that we were "really excellent, statistically."
NG needs to be careful he doesn't become a shill. That whole exchange at the end about how well we've bounced back all year, and Mooney's "constant improvement" mantra is laughable - we closed out on a 4 game losing streak, and bounced back from our tough loss to VCU by getting dominated by UMass.

Real programs dont wait long.

"We're really focused on practice". That is a good one. Perhaps, you should be really focused on the actual games that matter.

He used the word "Hopefully, about a million times. Hopefully, we will go up to Brooklyn and play well. WTF is that. Now, we are just hoping that we play well. According to Mooney, we played really well against Davidson as well. Didn't win but we played well and that is what matters.

That was 5 straight minutes of loser talk right there.

"HOPE is not a good strategy"! ;)

once he's gone I will feel a little bad about the way things worked out, but results are results.

I don't understand we're working on practice???? We have two days before the tournament what exactly are you practicing that will change things this late in the season?

Pretty much game planning and rest before you go into a tournament.

I think he's just throwing "go to" lines. He's said this and similar things so many times that after awhile the words just roll out.

His remarks when asked about what they'll bring to Fordham game was telling. He bumbled and stumbled for a few secs, and then said "good energy"....with absolutely zero energy and conviction. Check out 2:43 of tape.
