I wasn't happy about losing Rocco but the more I hear coach Huesman talk the more I am inpressed. He sounds like a biscuits and gravy kind of guy that is not bullshit about football, which is my kind of guy. About time we had a good old boy from below the mason Dixon line leading our program. I am all in with coach Huesman now. Can't wait to see where it goes. BTW it will be in Frisco!

Bob Black had a great interview on his Sports Huddle show on Thursday on ESPN 950 with Coach Huesman talking about signing day as well as talking about current players, spring practice, etc. You can scroll down the page on this link and find the link to the February 2nd show. The Huesman interview starts at about the 20 minute mark. The more I hear from him the more impressed I am. You can hear in his voice how excited he is with the the talent level he inherited when he got to Richmond.

Although Rocco tried to screw us more ways then one on the way out, do believe talent wise we are in a much better situation compared to when Scott and London left. I don't expect a drop off.

I"I want to hug his neck!"

although from southern ohio, cincy is still north of the mason-dixon line. no probs, he is a proven winner and we are lucky.

I posted on another thread that Coach Huesman is more than Rocco's equal as football coach and has a personality to boot! :)

Coach Huesman spent most of his adult life below the Mason Dixon Line. He played at Chattanooga and then coached at South Carolina, William & Mary, Memphis, Richmond, back to Chattanooga and now back at Richmond.

It is pretty amazing Coach Huesman and staff were able to put together such as strong class with such limited time given the fact that we only retained 2 of Rocco's commitments. Also, I understand that he retained every returning player on the current roster with the exception of Holloway who is not using his last year of eligibility. Imagine what coach will with a full recruiting cycle. As far as the overall strength of the Program, I think we are in better shape than we were this time last year. We have an opportunity to fix any issues that exist and have a great head coach who knows and wants to be at Richmond. Coach has a clear vision: win National Championships. He knows he can accomplish this at UR because he has done it before. His success as a coordinator and head coach speak for themselves. We won't have a drop off with Russ as coach.

Rocco wasn't very personable, at least publicly, and while I'm very excited about Russ, I'm not going to trash Rocco. In some respect, the anger that he displayed at the end should help the program going ahead. He brought up a lot of things publicly that will hopefully bring about some positive changes that the school and athletic department can make. If they don't, at least they can't say they weren't aware of the problems.

If we have a successful year, maybe a shot at the NC, we must give Rocco his due. Just as we gave Clawson a lot of credit for London's NC, we also will owe that to Rocco because we're playing with his players.

Well stated, and many of Rocco's players and assistants/staffers cleared adored him. Rocco left the program in great shape for Coach Huesman. Looking forward to a continuation of Richmond's winning ways!

I will always give Rocco his due and be appreciative for the good work he did for the program. That being said, my respect for what he did on the field is tempered by the classless display of petulance he showed when exiting stage left.

same here little bro, he ran a good, clean, solid, program and am sure he will get the hens back up where they used to be. he could have been a lot less public and still gotten the attention of those who needed the nudge to get some things done.

I feel empathy for Coach Rocco. I have felt the feeling where you have worked your butt off for a
goal, and then not been appreciated by those who should appreciate what you've done. Your competitive spirit makes you want to lash out.
I don't hold any animosity towards Coach Rocco; just empathy.

How many employees feel they could have done a better job with more tools, and how many fell they should have received more recognition for a job well done? Do they all throw bombs on the way out the door? I thank him for what he did, but I have heard from a number of independent sources it didn't stop when he left.

Danny's issue got personal. That why the extra vitriol. Whenever things get personal, they have the potential to get uglier. Its far easier to dislike or want to "get back at" etc. a person than an institution etc. Danny's got personal (two ways). I would guess that down the road a few year when he sees it all more clearly, he'll think he could have and should have done some things differently and hopefully the University already realizes they could have and should have done some things differently.

I have a concern that we'll downplay some of the issues because we think it "all worked out for the best" etc.

i think if he would have went to a fbs school or somewhere out of conference it would blow over quicky , but he knew going to delaware made it personal, hard to foreget when you see each every year , but it will be fun to have another rivalry
