In case we still needed confirmation, Tyler is on this official list of 2023 NBA Draft early entry candidates. Will have until May 31st to withdraw.
Don’t know the accuracy of this but someone from VCU who is former media wrote “Holmes is projected a late 2nd round draft pick. Unless he makes a move after some workouts he will go back. A UD fan told me that Holmes has a $1 million NIL deal at Dayton.”As a measure, my understanding is UVA paid between 10K and 100K in NIL to players last year. Hard for us, or any non P6 school, to match near that.
As a school we aren't even willing to fully fund allowable scholarships in most sports. Don't see groundswell alumni support to spew money for a NIL program when there is scant evidence we, as a school, are serious about athletics.
Heard something very similar about Holmes as well.Don’t know the accuracy of this but someone from VCU who is former media wrote “Holmes is projected a late 2nd round draft pick. If true that is amazing…
Assuming this is true (and even if it's not 100% true, I'm sure there are many situations around the country similar to this), I wonder about the team chemistry/locker room dynamic effects the NIL deals may start having on some teams. I know stars have always received star treatment in some ways, but this is taking it to a new level. I could easily see some animosity developing when there's a million dollar player on a team, guys 8-13 are maybe just getting the $2k/$3k per month treatment, and the rest of the team is somewhere in between but nowhere near the $1 million.Don’t know the accuracy of this but someone from VCU who is former media wrote “Holmes is projected a late 2nd round draft pick. Except maybe now on the women's side!Welp, that's a question we will never have to worry about here at UR!
What does this mean? Is this different than last year? Does this chnage probability of coming back to U of R?
Since the NBA Combine is (I believe) from May 15-21 this reduces the probability of Tyler returning to UR...today...What does this mean? Is this different than last year? Does this chnage probability of coming back to U of R?
This is correct...but I think there is hope he returns 🫣Actually, now that I look at it, I think I misinterpreted the unclear tweet. So far, Tyler has only been invited to the G League camp. A handful of guys from the camp will be invited to stay on for the combine, in addition to the guys invited straight to the combine.
This is exactly the same as last year. He went to the camp, but then did not earn a combine invite.
I have not heard of #LMAO Sports before. Wonder how Tyler got hooked up with them?
For some reason that statement just sounds odd.Last year, there were 283 early entrants, but 136 of them pulled out before the deadlines.
I would imagine that would tip the scales to his return, yea?Unfortunately, it does not appear that Tyler was invited to the combine.
I think King, Langford, Burton, Bigelow, and Quinn are a vastly superior starting 5 to what we had last year. I think people are underestimating what Langford could bring to us.why would we ever be considered top 4 in the A10. Tyler coming back would be enough to keep us out of the bottom 4 which he did just barely last season. I will give you that at least.
Are you forgetting Fordham & Duquesne are Top 2 now?why would we ever be considered top 4 in the A10. Tyler coming back would be enough to keep us out of the bottom 4 which he did just barely last season. I will give you that at least.
if King is as good as we all hope, if Burton comes back, and assuming natural progression from Burton, Bigelow and Quinn ... I really like that line-up.I think King, Langford, Burton, Bigelow, and Quinn are a vastly superior starting 5 to what we had last year. I think people are underestimating what Langford could bring to us.
Tomorrow (5/11) is actually the last day that players can enter the portal. I bet there will be some interesting last-minute additions, but starting on Friday the number of players in the portal will only begin to decrease.Seems guys are still trickling in these last few days. So we can hold out hope for a late addition.
