BEAT IOWA!

Well, you may want to be careful speeding anyway.
The penalty for 81 MPH anywhere in Virginia is $3,000 and 12 months in jail…
Oops! I Haven’t kept up now only $2,500 still 12 months.
I assume still 81 in 70 equals reckless…

Anyway, you know when someone breaks out the smack talk about the relative geography of the states it’s time to play.
lol, I hear ya. the most embarrassing trash talk I've ever read. I hope it's just guys with a really dry sense of humor.

Corn is actually a mostly worthless vegetable. Your body can't digest it. It causes flatulence, indigestion, diarrhea, tooth decay and osteoporosis. And it gave us high fructose corn syrup, which is horrible for us.

Basically, the state of Iowa is trying to kill all of us. Screw you, Iowa! We're going to take back America in Buffalo tomorrow!

i am happy you have no Fredrick and no Nunge , I like Nunge game

Nunge was the cog that probably could have propelled us from a pretty good team to an elite team. We sorely missed his size, rebounding, and rim protection at times this year. Not to mention he is also a very good offensive player.

Go shove some corn up your ass! You would be elated to probably see the frickin ocean for once in your life. Must be rough living in iowa.
Wow, that's an angry person right there. The Iowa poster simply stated that a win on the road against UVA was a good win for Iowa and that our lineups have changed considerably since then. Based on Richmond's schedule, I'm guessing that a road victory at UVA, even if down a bit (they did beat Duke, btw) would be better than road wins at UNI or George Washington. Regardless, Iowa has been playing it's best basketball of the season beginning in February, but anything can happen in the tourney. Go Hawks!

Yep
Way to cordial
Hawks by a million !!!!
Hope we don’t hurt any of your boys
12 vs 12 ? Indiana would smoke you guys

GOOD LUCK ( next year ). 😜

As a Hawkeye, I can assure you:

a) we respect Richmond and especially your tourney history (Dick Tarrant & Bielien)
b) we have a shaky tourney history
c) we've improved incredibly over the past 2 months

Best of luck to you. This Hawkeye team seems special, but maybe Richmond is, too.

As Penn State is my second favorite team (yeah, I know they are brutal), I watch a fair amount of Big 10 basketball. Iowa is legit, my heart sank when I saw our draw. Keegan Murray is a beast, leading scorer in the Big 10, can make shots from anywhere, clutch player. Bohannon is a super senior who has been around for ever, also big time shot maker. Coach son, Pat Mcafferty is a really good player as well. Won the Big 10 tournament, so they come in with just as much confidence as us.

I know some don't think the Big 10 is all of that but the committee felt differently giving them 9 bids (Michigan was undeserving, in my opinion).

So, I think it is a bad draw and a bad match up for us. That said, Gilly and company showed they belong and I'm counting them out. They are playing inspired basketball. I do think Gilly is the key. Big 10 is filled with big athletic dudes, pretty confident Iowa hasn't seen much of the super quick small guard that he will bring to the table. If he plays like he did against VCU and Davidson, were in this game until the end.
Well said, 97. I, too, feel that Michigan was undeserving. Patrick does some things well and can be a second scorer at times, but he can also be off and not factor much in a game. His length is a plus. When Keegan is off, which hasn't happened often this year, Kris has come up big. We're all hoping he'll be the next big thing at Iowa next year. Lastly, a big key to Iowa's resurgence has been the move of Bohannon back to PG and inserting Perkins into the lineup. Perkins has played really well, plays great defense, and isn't afraid to get into the lane for tough shots and rebounds. Defensive efficiency during the first couple months was a major deficiency, but has risen into the 70s in the past month plus. I believe we were around 150 earlier in the year.

You are correct in that Iowa hasn't faced a lot of ultra quick guards and it certainly seems like your guard, Gilly, fills that role. In past years, they have definitely cause us some grief. It should be a good game. You never know what will happen those 5/12 games.

Jay Bilas from ESPN wrote an article picking every game in the tourney. This was what he wrote for our matchup:

Iowa can really score, and the Hawkeyes' defense has greatly improved over the past month, as evidenced by the Big Ten tournament title win against Purdue. Iowa rarely turns the ball over and has a superstar in Keegan Murray, who averages 23.6 points and is one of the most versatile players in the nation. Jordan Bohannon has made close to 80 3s on 38% shooting and is the Big Ten's all-time leader in 3-point shooting.

Richmond has Grant Golden inside and Jacob Gilyard, one of the best defenders and steals guys in the country. Still, Iowa is better and has Murray, a lottery pick.

Winner: Iowa

He gave us one sentence. ONE SENTENCE. Our “paragraph” being a fifth of the size is one thing, but then using the second sentence of our two sentence “paragraph” to say Iowa is better. Does that piss anybody else off? Pin it on the ****ing bulletin board Mooney

We are both on a clear collision course, May the best team prevail.

absolutely we need to use it for bulletin board material!

If the state of Iowa is the death of us all, that would be the biggest upset of all time.

I watched some of Bilas on selection Sunday. He did not impress me. Basically any team not in a power conference he poo poohed or didnt really give any insight. Surprising, he was pretty high on the ACC teams despite their weakest league in years. If we win, he will be talking about how he had a feeling we could do damage with our super seniors.

We are 10 point underdogs which surprises me.
We aren’t playing to win just one game so might as well get the tough matches in the beginning too.
Spiders by 2 in a close game with many lead changes.

we weren't invited to the last 9 tournaments.
I can't imagine we need extra motivation from Jay Bilas.

There’s a clear difference between Gilyard when he feels he’s been wronged vs “regular” Gilly. He created his own adversity in the A10 tourney, now he doesn’t have to. He and the team are being disrespected by every pundit there is. He’s a top 3 player in the A-10 when he has motivation. Without it he’s not in the top 10. Show him everything.

I guarantee you the constant disrespect from the media is going to do a lot more to fire Gilly and the team up than them just all being aware of the fact the program hasn’t made it in a decade.

Good point. Pretty clear from his comments postgame, Gilly was on his a "I'm a going to shove it right up those message board warriors a***es who don't think I am good enough. In that vein, Gilly, your welcome, and I think your too short to ball against these Big 10 guys.

97 thank you…you may have just won us this matchup

Anyone know where the Richmond PG ranks this season in steals? I think I’ve seen that posted once or twice. Anyway, you know when someone breaks out the smack talk about the relative geography of the states it’s time to play.
Hang on. Soon basketball thread is gonna include comparison of math, English, and biology - UR vs Iowa.

Bilas may know basketball, but his on air delivery is some of the most obnoxious statements and attitude of commentators I’ve watched through the years.

Best I could do on short notice...

Iowa costs $76,580 over four years and grads make $58,274 on average.

Richmond costs $103,352 over four years and grads make $69,310 on average.

Therefore, you get more bang for your buck by going to Iowa (not really if you take a full career into account).

Take that! 🤪
