BEAT IOWA!

Hoping the assigned crew will not let Richmond play defense the way Rutgers, Wisconsin or Michigan State are allowed to in the league. Grabs, holds, moving screens constantly with no calls. That being allowed is what costs the Big Ten during tourney time.
Big Ten has always played thug ball.

Big ten plays the worst style of basketball possible. Iowa plays a lot faster than the rest of the league but most others in there just play how many times can we foul the other team and then don’t get me started on the officiating. Serious question for iowa fans; have y’all noticed that the refs seem to call the game way to tight in the final minute and also go to the monitor to review as many plays as possible? They do this in like 7-9 point games under a minute to go and it’s honestly kind of ridiculous, let the game end. Must be a league rule to make the final minute go as slow as possible.

My Hoo son, a season ticket holder and a very good judge of basketball, saw Iowa take down UVA by a point in late November. Sees a lot of Spider games too. He believes we are easily capable of beating Iowa.

I'm going with my family and my Spider family. We will get this done! (He believes we win the second game too).
FYI......This IS NOT the November Iowa team.

Go shove some corn up your ass! You would be elated to probably see the frickin ocean for once in your life. Must be rough living in iowa.
Iowa is the only state in North America sharing its entire east and west border with the two biggest waterways in the U.S.A.! (Missouri River and Mighty Mississippi.) Does that count for looking at large bodies of water? Just watch how the Hawkeyes BOAT RACE the Spiders......

Virginia is home to the most important waterways in the US. Without settlers first sailing up the Chesapeake bay, James river and York river your joke of a state wouldn’t exist.

Iowa is a beautiful state like Virginia, but they also seem to have VCU type fans like Virginia. That’s sad.

I see Murray was just named a First Team AP All-American. Quite an honor. Even crazier, he was the only selection.

At first, I hated this draw. I am slowly liking it more and more. I love the fact that nobody is talking about us as the upset and rather that Iowa is going to the championship or whatnot. There are countless upsets in March madness of teams nobody expects. I also came across this stat today. Team ranked in the top ten offensively and outside the top 100 defensively have gone 1 and 9 in the first round since 2000. Iowa 4th offensively and according to basketball stats and references 158 in defense. I am starting to like this more and more.

The best Cinderella is the one nobody picks to make it! I can tell you Gilly loves being the underdog

One thing I will say is that if you are filling out 2 or more brackets, picking the Spiders in one of them is a no brainer. Iowa is setting up to be the bracketbuster of the tourney if they lose. Many experts picking them to go very far, calling them the sleeper of the tournament, they should be seeded much higher, etc. Almost all will jump on the wagon and have them going far. It really is a perfect bracket buster scenario imo. I can remember a number of times this playing out and the team is gone in RD 1, and most are teams that aren’t historically good in the tournament like Iowa.

That said, Im still going to pick Iowa in my other bracket and winning a couple games. Money is money.

With the most experienced team in NCAA history, anything can happen. I thought they gave up before the A10 tourney but they proved me wrong. I don’t think they have much of a chance against Iowa, but they like proving me wrong.
Go Spiders!!

That’s right! Virginia corn>iowa corn
Iowa is literally the greenest place I’ve ever seen. Driving from Mass to Colorado, it’s basically just Soy and Corn the whole way. But then you get to Iowa and it’s just brighter and greener.

Did any of us spiders go over to the Iowa board? I have no desire to do it and I like trash talk more than most. Interesting how many of them are lurking here.

We’re a pretty friendly bunch. Honestly it’s about making it here to me. This was an underwhelming season with the team we had. They just flipped a switch at the right time. I don’t know what to make of this going forward. Hope for the best, expect the worst.

I understand but one thing I hope more than anything is that the team doesnt have that sentiment. The happy just to be here sentiment spells an embarrassing blowout loss.

Me. I’ve mainly been interested in how you see your team and the matchups. I’m not much for trash talk though. I could work on it however. Ummmm. Keegan Murray is a big can of Raid. Take it spiders!!!

True but it isn’t really how we like to play. Usually if we lose a head scratcher it’s when the refs let the game be super physical. We like to play a wide open offense with a lot of movement.
That's similar to how we play. Just not as wide open. Big physical teams we struggle with the most. If we can hit a few threes. We'll be in the game.

Keegan Murray is their biggest threat. He is 6-8 and he is a threat from both inside and outside. He is their best scorer. We should rotate either Goose, Burton or Dji on him to limit his input.
We are going to need our best defensive effort to win.

It won't matter who you put on him, he'll get his.
