2024 Presidential Election

Galli - I love reading your posts as ridiculous - in my opinion - as the majority are. So I'll quote you from your latest post on a different topic:

"Rule #1, just because they are in charge, doesn't mean they are smart." If you cannot see the irony in that when comparing Trump versus Harris... And I'm not quite sure how you came up with your requirements for past work experience. Aside from Harris being the AG in the most populous state (an executive position) governments do not have the same mission as businesses and should not be run based on strictly business principles, especially by someone who has the business record of Trump. And you want someone with the "ability to make decisive decisions." So how about Harris choosing Walz (a governor who meets your qualifications) versus Trump choosing Vance. What has he ever been in charge of?

Finally, I'll confess to being a little bit "woke" however you define that. Your qualifications say "business man" which excludes around fifty percent of Americans.

Do you approve of the move to the Patriot League?

The CAA isn't what it was, I get wanting to leave....that doesn't mean the Patriot League will turn out like we hope.

Sometimes I don't get our fans....

When schools leave a conference willingly, its almost always for better competition and more money, that was not the case here.

If you thought we had trouble selling tickets before playing schools like Hampton, WM, Towson coming to town, just wait until Holy Cross invades The Rob.

Call me negative all you want, but its embarrassing to see how little the admin cares about football and until they're called out on it, will continue.
These are very good points. The rule is play in the best conference that provides a school with national exposure, in which we can compete for a national championship and which is affordable. The Patriot League does none of that.

Our recruiting will fall off and interest in the program will decline. We will no longer be playing W&M in the last regular season of the year, with playoff implications on the line.

The admin is cutting off the football program at its knees. I suspect the Athletic Department and coaches only rubber stamped the decision by the new president, who wanted to leave his mark on the school. He did it, that's for sure.

Rule #1, just because they are in charge, doesn't mean they are smart.

2024–25 schedule

cant be shocked we are programmed to not be completely shocked. that said 5 for vcu and 0 for Richmond I don't think is right. Think we deserved 1. But I tried to warn u guys about VCU being the favorite. Obviously they will lean to marquee matchups and base off projections, tho they do miss.

My feeling is the network folks at espn pushed for VCU. Good luck with those that feel like we still have better shot at the BE than VCU. who's corner will the networks be in? In this case tho that's where I think the A10 as a conference needs to exert more for the membership overall.

VCU is just close to a sure thing (but not in a Nicollete Sheridan way). 25-9 vs. UR under Moon, the ncaas, they've been in the A10 final 8 out of 11 times which is insane. We're batting 3 for 18 under Moon. While Richmond puts resources to mens hoops I still feel like we missed going "all in" & these r unfortunate reminders we get often. Really the only way to change that vcu ur perception is on the court.
Not everyone has VCU as the favorite…

2024 Presidential Election

When evaluating candidates I first look for 3 things before I look to the issues, 1) do they show integrity (Trump NO), 2) character, (Trump fails), and 3) will they honor their oath to support all laws and the constitution, (Trump NO).
When evaluating candidates for president, I look for leadership and decision making. 1) Does the individual have executive experience? 2) Has the candidate shown the ability to make decisive decisions? , 3) Does the candidate have the guts to take decisive action? 4) Does the candidate show a propensity towards weakness and appeasement? 5) Does the candidate want to neuter the US by instituting woke policies throughout the government and the country? 6) Has the person actually held an executive job?

Kamala Harris and Joe Biden both fail every one of these tests. Both project weakness abroad and at home. Neither one is capable of making the strong decisions in favor of American interests abroad. Both enforce woke policies at home, while advocating soft on crime policies and open borders.

A president should have executive experience, as a governor or a business man. Neither Harris, nor Biden have done so.

Football to Patriot League. Should basketball and rest of sports be concerned?

The biggest positive for the basketball program is the NIL Cooperative. It consist of large donors to the Athletic Department, along with a number of Trustees. Everyone in the group is actively involved in getting regular updates on the program and highly interested in the successes of the program.

I hope many of you come out next Friday and support the program. It should be a very high quality event.
I signed up to attend last night and received my receipt.

2024–25 schedule

Gulf Coast Showcase folks forgot to put the little stamped RSVP return envelopes in 3 of the invites they sent out for the tourney (to Arkansas, Villanova and Florida St. I'm sure.) So those 3 teams couldn't find a way to RSVP and here we are at 5 teams.*

**variation on GK's fax machine/paper joke from weeks back, and all the subsequent iterations of that

2024–25 schedule

He doesn’t do the scheduling, but obviously he has to agree to it.
So, if they try to schedule teams that don’t want to play us what are we to do?
He is the captain of the ship, the buck should stop with him. If the person that he has delegated a task as vitally important as scheduling to fails then he has failed.

But keep making excuses even though there's no need anyway since there is no accountability within the athletic department in the first place.

2024–25 schedule

Walsh successor in charge

The men’s bball staff have always run point on scheduling. They r not putting the deputy AD who is a little over a year into the job “in charge” of scheduling for the flagship program. It’s not football with few ooc games and done years in advance. Many on bball & AD staff touch it and I’m sure Butler also handles logistics & some contractual items but he’s not choosing the games. Everyone loves to pass the buck for Mooney.

2024–25 schedule

Hardt is gonna step in and offer a 5 for 1 deal to Bucknell (5 in Lewisboro so both GK and student17 get mad) to jump in and save us, forgetting that we already play them.

I still want that 5 for 1 deal! 5 at the RC of course. Bring it on student17. 250% better than the 2-1 we apparently already gave em. Worst case they can equally replace a number of teams we play at home every year - this year it’s about all of them. But a great futures ticket to hold if Bucknell gets close to the Bucknell of old.

2024 Richmond Spiders Football - Prologue - Elon

awful glad we've gotten to the CAA portion of our schedule...believe we will finally find out Saturday whether, or not, we are the CAA Championship and FCS Playoff contender we thought we were in preseason...

so far the offense and defense have been inconsistent enough to leave fans wondering about the season's high expectations...for Saturday's CAA opener there should be no questions about the venue, opposing team or stakes of the game...if the Spiders can't go into Rhodes Stadium and play their best on both sides of the ball a disappointing season could lay ahead!

I like Coach Huesman's decision to go with Coleman at QB...despite the red zone picks at DSU his ability to throw the ball downfield gave our offense a weapon that had been missing...with Nick DeGennaro also back the UR offense could put some of those points it missed last week on the board...

but I'm worried about the former Fighting Christians...they seem to always play well against Coach Huesman's teams...last season Huesman finally broke through to get his first non COVID season win...Coach Trisciani has a team that needs a win as badly as the Spiders...this will be the Phoenix's 3rd straight home game...they have lost their last two...watch out for QB Downing, WR Brayboy and RB Thomas to come up big for Elon... our defense will have to be at its best or it could be a long afternoon!

find a way to win Spiders!

In honor of the Spiders final season in the CAA, I will share The Spider Gang's predictions for the CAA games each week...this week The Gang is solid in the Spiders camp 7-3...the predictions are listed in the order of the season long Predictions Contest standings following the Delaware State game:

Mr. Electric - Elon 21-17
The Chief - UR 31-27
Satchmo - Elon 28-27
Ms. Crook - UR 27-17
Scooper - UR 24-20
Ms. Diplomat - UR 24-17
Crook - UR 20-7
Ms. Springer - UR 20-14
Ms. Spirit - Elon 24-14
The Sheriff - UR 35-17

enjoy the Prologue!

Go Spiders!

2024–25 schedule

I think he means D2/D3 teams on their regular schedules, not in the MTE. Ditch that to free up a slot to move up to a 3-game MTE.

Probably have to buy off the D2/D3 school and way too many moving parts required to be feasible, but yeah, it's an idea.

Gotcha. I alluded to that possibility of dropping a game earlier too. & the d2/d3 drop would make most sense plus many teams have them scheduled. Easiest to drop with likely a minimal buyout. But yeah, too many moving parts. It's not 1 team in that scenario, but 3. And they would be giving up a home game. To me its worth it but there r some posters adamant we require X amount of home games for the fanbase to play your Mt. Olives. Those teams could feel the same. I think a $$ incentive could possibly sway it but what $ does the Gulf Coast have or it means UR and the 4 others subsidizing it.

Not dismissing what urfan1 heard but all options lead back to the highest likelihood of just 1 team from anywhere joining to make it 6 teams. gotta figure something out.

Yes, not likely, but technically possible.

More likely than having a double header of 2 games with 5 teams and no one sitting out…
