If we'd simply cut down on turnovers (20+ past 2 games) and play D halfway decent, would at least be competitive in games. Someone has to be the leader on this team and Fore needs to step up.
We would still get pounded on the boards and inside. Just like last year, we have 1 viable big man. Because we have only 1 viable big man, that big man has to protect himself from foul trouble, so the inside is always open.
Mooney had plenty of opportunities to get a big man transfer the past 2 years, he failed to nab anyone of any significance and signed two guys that no one else had any interest in because they had done nothing in their previous 4 years of college ball.
Exactly. First, Mooney's system does not allow for big play in the paint- so what good big men would want to play for UR? Second, we end up, as you say, with one somewhat big guy- so we get crushed inside and on the boards. It will not change unless the system changes.
Talking with folks at the RC tonight and there is some real apathy setting in regarding this program.
Not surprising. I gave up my tickets to neighbors and installed a comfort height watercloset tonight instead. That's how apathetic I've become.

To paraphrase Mooney: hes very proud of how the team played tonight, team is improving -- "there is definitely progress being made, no question." Team just needs to learn how to win. Said Julius played great and he needs to play him more. Same for Jordan Andrews and Friendshuh to give Grant a breather. Coaching staff really wants to get both of them on the floor for meaningful minutes. He said theyre very high on Cayo, and he regrets the staff couldnt get him in the game for longer stretches of time. Said its on the staff and players to give these 3 more opportunities. Said theyve played a tough schedule thus far, and Vermont is a great team that won 29 games last year. He's confident that they'll eventually get in stride to where it pays off in the win column.

He needs to realize he is playing for a 4 game season in DC in March. He better play all these kids and come up with 2 or 3 off the bench that can contribute something, anything.

One positive about this season is with the outcome decided in all of our home games before the buzzer, I am able to leave early and beat traffic out of the parking lot - I’m home before I have to hear Mooney on the poastgame show talking about how the coaching staff has to give guys more minutes - like he isnt the freakin coaching staff.

I think you misspoke there. Mooney needs to realize he’s playing for a 5 game season in DC in March.
Wow. 6 and 30 in the NCAAs would be some kind of record.
Maybe Mooney's plan is to fill in the hole in our list of NCAA accomplishments. We have won as a 12, 13, 14 and 15 seed, but not as a 16 seed. It is very hard to make the NCAA tournament from the A10 and get a 16 seed.
The only way to win the A10 tournament and get a 16 seed is to have essentially no wins during the regular season since you will need to beat some good teams to win the A10 tournament which are more impressive wins than most 16 seeds have. This year is ideal for the 16 seed gambit since the A10 is very weak and winning the A10 tournament will not result in too many good wins. To make sure we get the 16 seed Mooney is playing it safe and going for the most regular season losses possible.
When we get to the A10 tournament Mooney will unleash the full potential of the team, winning the auto bid and putting us in position to be the first 16 seed to win a game in the NCAAs.
