Close program followers are saddened, but not surprised by the outcome. After all, we, not the Admin apparently, have seen this for nearly two decades. Mooney is a good guy, but his system only works about 55% of the time. Elegant offense cannot overcome piss poor defense and rebounding (have rebounded well last two games, but historic anomalies). Gritty, tough teams that don't shoot particularly well routinely beat us because of the system.
To my mind, Mooney is largely a one trick pony - offense. If we shoot poorly as tonight, then it is lights out bc of weak performance in other aspects of the game. When it comes to defense and rebounding, absent a game here or there, we suck....and over the years we have paid and will continue to pay repeatedly because of it.
What does it take to bring in a new coach that can bring back the Spider's past glory?
