Tyler Burton - 2019 Richmond Commit

I like this kid. I think he will be a solid player for us. Does this mean we can longer get commitments from other 2019 like Robbie Beran? Has Mooney ever gotten more commitments than scholarship offers meaning a current player will definitely transfer after the year?

Welcome aboard, Tyler! A great addition to an already rapidly improving Spider team. Go Spiders!

I think Brunt does more for recruiting being gone than when was here. I think with more time everyone willknow this.
Good job to our coaches, Happy times this year

All I was saying is that every offer made isn't a big deal. Only the ones that are legit players that our schools actually have a shot at are worth talking about. Otherwise these threads are empty...We've made 20 offers too. Maybe 2 or 3 are real shots. I'm not trolling anyone. It's reality.

Brilliant

Welcome to our Spider family Tyler! Heard nothing but good things about you, looking forward to watching you over the next four years.

Very Very nice get here. Really like this guys game. I have been saying this for 5 years: We need to recruit the heck out of the NEPSAC, which probably has as many or more D1 players than any hs/prep league in the country. We got Gonzo and not too much since. Great pick up, solid player that could end up being a great player.

LOL. Well, we have seen the recruiting fire our women's coach found - I am giving Hardt credit. Would love to hear those motivational speeches Hardt is providing.
Could Hardt be facilitating admissions? Likely he is getting things done behind the scenes. In any case, things are clearly changed since our previous AD’s departure and Hardt’s arrival.

When Mooney meets in Hardt’s office,Hardt flips this on as background music during the discussions:

Yes, that would be a good thing if he is facilitating with admissions, though I have no reason to believe Mr. Burton required assistance, coming from one of our fine New England prep schools.

I was at the game last year, we lost DA.

Spartacus, I know it is hard for you to keep track of your DA statements (moderator: notice I called his statements DA not him, unlike what he called me), so let me give you a gentle reminder..

"Like the looks of this kid. We seem to bat .000 going head to head wit URI on recruits though."

Corey/Spartacus, since you can't remember what you said, I'm here to help you.

I don't see how Hardt is relevant with this verbal at all. Mooney landed a good prospect. he does that every year. there's no reason to think he needed any more help with admissions than we've had with anyone else.

OK, apparently a "Corey" is a derogatory term, so are not following your own little rules when calling me out to the moderators. Not very smart.

And we were in the final list for Dana Tate, who I do see on the URI roster as a freshman. Carry on.

Can we stop with the name calling of other posters as well as the invoking of politics in the board. It adds nothing to the substance of the discussion and just inflammatory.

We have definitely had difficulty with admissions, but the biggest offense there was with grad admissions, not undergrad.

CM does land at least one good prospect a year. He doesn’t generally have a great track record with getting multiple good ones or year. He is on the uptick though, and as Fezz points out, seems to be now that a certain assistant is gone.

So, is this going to impact VCU's recruiting negatively going forward, or did this assistant secretly want to take down Mooney and the Spiders?

you're ridiculous histrionics and ridiculous statements (ie batting .000 vs. URI, etc. ), nothing derogatory, is the reason for the nickname.

By the way, I see Sol Khourrasi on our roster as well. Carry on.[/QUOTE]

I don't see anyone with that name on our roster, it's
Koureissi. Also, according to Ulla, he goes by "Sal". You are close on the first name, but way off on his last name. Keep trying Cory :):):)

For some, it's very easy to mistake jest, wit, and well-intended bon mot, even hyperbole, for histrionics. However, I appreciate the humor of various posters to this forum who venture into the arena of such repartee. Though their numbers are few, it makes much more tolerable reading through the seemingly unabated rubber stampings of mediocrity we saw just a few years back. Without some well-intended comic relief, sometimes cutting, interspersed among the posts of Truthers, the monotony might become overwhelming and cause those skeptics among us to lose interest.

Keep up the good work, 23. You are much more entertaining and informative with your banter than you were in your previous persona. It makes for good reading for those of us who get it and it helps expedite the process for implementing needed changes.

Thanks little i, I appreciate the support. I do fear I will fall back into my boring "yes" man posting of yesteryear if we hire a good coach that brings us back in NCAA contention. I am actually looking forward to that, but may need to stay on the attack for now.

Actually, VCU could care less. We got our own gig going over here on the Eastern side. Decent get though. Looks like he'll be a solid A10 player and a good add to the conference.
