Could we deal with no Buckingham as long as Fore and Sherod stay? I think so. He brings a lot defensively, but our offense really comes from GG and Sherod

maybe all 5 starters will go to form their own team?
plenty of room at Pitt.

Buckingham is a key piece of our offense. Losing any one of our starters will have a very big impact on our offense next year.

Losing any of these guys would be a disaster. Losing multiple would be crippling.

FWIW, I saw Nick working out in the RC with a personal trainer on Tuesday.

If we lose these guys, I hope to god that Hardt gets off his A$$ and walks down, and picks Moon dogg up by his pants and escorts him out of the RC. Or at least finds him on the golf course with PQ. Better yet, they are probably all on the golf course thinking of a way to spin this. We will be the dregs of the A10, if not already. GREAT. It used to be fun to be a Richmond fan, now it is the worst.

Well at least we know he is not hurt. Wonder why he was not playing with team? Maybe class issues both days

I hope against hope this is false, but have heard some rumblings myself. Let's see what happens. I tell you this is the BS Russian roulette that moon dogg plays with, when you have no depth or competition on the roster. No next man up if this happens.

Interested to hear what all you have heard? Does any of my information sound familiar, hope it doesn’t happen, especially Sherod. I’m a huge fan of how he carried our team the 2nd half of season. With help from GG those two were/are unstoppable together.

I think this is psychological ops in play by programs who are desperate to catch up in the Bryce Golden sweepstakes.

Transfer rumors are par for the course for most any program this time of year even if we are in a more delicate situation. I have very high expectations next 2 years - though I'm sure I'll be told I shouldn't have those, I do anyway - IF all our core guys come back. Hopefully the guys on the team see the same.

Also is it weird that a dad of a cheerleader is spending so much time on campus when not a lot is going on right now? I love my parents & remember taking laundry home but the visits in college were meant to be one way.

Well Mooney and JOC started this talk by putting out an article 5 minutes after we were eliminated. That died down, but was certain to crop up. I have heard mention of Nick, then Buck and especially Fore. My sources are all third hand and include one Mr. VT.

Look for Fore and Sherod to announce their transfer in the coming weeks. My daughter is a cheerleader at UR and very good friends with Fore

Sherod has not played pickup with team either day this week. I have been to RC and no sign of him. No Fore first day either.
#Fake News, these are likely the same person. He is probably the one who called the TV station to report that Chris Mooney had been fired midway through the season.

Actually, I have no idea who that is. I said this is what was being talked about on campus from some of the players. I didn’t said I heard it firsthand or that it was at all true. Purely speculation but based on the source I’m sure there’s some truth to some of it.

Why so rude?

Everyone on this board is passionate about Richmond basketball. Tempers can flare easily, especially since the lack of NCAA bids over the past 7 years has led to a lot of frustration. Speculating about things that will set the team back is going to irritate people.

just trying to understand ... your daughter is friends with Khwan. she tells you something she heard about him. and you decide to put it out there on a message board?

hope that doesn't get back to her. I'd be pissed at you.

Reading the Basketball Board continues to be a complete, never ending source of embarrassment.
It’s turned into a TMZ gossip column of unfounded conjecture of unsubstantiated rubbish written by unemployable girlie boys.A joke.

The moderator should prequalify these dopes to see if they’re worthy to write on the Board.

I find it extremely hard to believe that any of our starter would be willing to sit out a year and then hope they get playing time at a team in a better conference. It make absolutely no sense. Especially, when we have our top 7 players all coming back and should be much better next year.

Hopefully, they don't read this forum. Most of the post would depress the heck out of them.

94, a good dad would not breach a child's trust. Not saying you are not a good dad. ;)

Maybe it is an on purpose leak to undermine Mooney because player "A" wants to stay and play for a better coach. Though I am beginning to think we are screwed anyway - even if Mooney is gone. I cringe thinking of Hardt and PQ looking at coaching options.

People on here are very rude when you say anything that undermines there great mediocre leader. My apologies to you on behalf of the rude posters on this board. Thanks for sharing this potential sad news. People will always look to kill the messenger.

this isn't a little fishy to you, 23? new guy's 1st post is that his daughter told him Khwan is transferring so he quickly signed up here to tell us? o_O
credibility is earned. 94 has none yet. but go ahead and thank him because the narrative is in line with your current thoughts on Mooney.

personally, I'm skeptical. sounds like more FMMBS to me. so no need for you to apologize on my behalf.

The big exception would be if Fore as a Grad Transfer could get playing time at Bama...

Since this is the Transfer Thread and not the UR Transfer Thread.
Anyone else notice what is going on at Dayton? Seems like 5 players leaving...

My radar has been up on this transfer deal since the Mike Phillips column about 'needing to keep the team together' in the RTD a couple Saturdays ago after the St Bonny loss. The article was very odd to me, almost like it was leaked to Phillips in an effort to take the sting out of some bad news that was forthcoming. I don't know any other reason that the article is written. I'm no big Mike Phillips fan but he's not some hack journalist. He's the sports editor of the RTD now.

I also find it odd, given the posts from the purported cheerleader's dad, that Nick was the player most quoted in that article about how the future was looking bright.

Spiderman, Yes, an initial post like this does seem a little unusual to me.

I will say, the fact that there was an article that openly stated that Nick Sherod said the players were talking about transferrring - less than 24 hours after the season ended seems odd too. I guess the rumors on this thread are not much more damning than the article from the RTD (not JOC - my bad).
"Hundreds of Division I basketball players transfer every year, in search of greener pastures. The Spiders, who spent the past four months building their launching pad, can’t afford another delayed takeoff.

Sophomore Nick Sherod said it’s been a topic of conversation among the players."

and 10 other A10 teams have gone NCAA

you're saying the topic of conversation was transferring? I read it differently. to me they were talking about what they can be IF they stay together.

“I think we’re going to look back on this season next year and the year after that and be like, we had to go through something this year to really get to where we wanted,” he said. “Obviously we wanted to finish better, and we had bigger expectations, but it’s good to have a little trial and tribulation — to get you to where you want to go.

“So we’re excited about that.”

Like many things, the article was a Rorschach test. What people took out of it reveals a lot about their perception of the program. I did not get the sense that the players were considering transferring from that article, which probably says a lot about me.

Take this passage:
Sophomore Nick Sherod said it’s been a topic of conversation among the players.
“Obviously you never know what could happen in terms of injuries or people leaving,” he said. “But we’re a really close group, and I think we have a lot of potential.”

To me this is just a reporter calling up Sherod and asking him if any of the players were transferring. Sherod's response seems to indicate that the group wants to stay together and thinks they can accomplish a lot together. And there is no indication in the article of players seeking to transfer outside of the offhand comment by Sherod: "Obviously you never know what could happen in terms of injuries or people leaving".

I have not heard a word about any of this any where but on this board today. I would take this new “revelation” from a person who created an account today on an open to the public board, with a huge grain of salt.

If Mooney goes we are going to be looking like the University of Pittsburgh. Many players will ask to be released and we will finish in the bottom 3 of the A10 each of the next 3 years. Attendance will drop off significantly.

This guy has no actual source and could actually be a troll. Here I'm going to take my shot at doing this

Hey everyone, my uncle works at Arizona and my grandpa at Texas. Just heard from him DeAndre Ayton and Mo Bamba are forgoing the draft to finish their careers at Richmond.

See how easy it is to make things up...mine was just much more farfetched...but I could have easily said something about having a friend know Grant Golden and saying his brother is committing in the coming days or something about a grad transfer.
